Anyone done this? Not wanting to debate how good they are...I have BBs on my other bikes but I'm rebuilding yet another ST after a deer hit of my beloved white 2013. I got a new 2016 and in the process of getting it farkled i notice that the TT handguards I'm about to mount are shown on the TT-USA site to be only good for Gen1 bikes?

I happen to remember that Nick Sanders bike can be replicated in a TT catalog so looked it up online and the advertisemen clearly shows his Gen2 with the TT handguards including the same part numbers.

Before i opened the packages i wanted to check the collective for experience.

Cheers!

I'll follow this, thinking of adding them with extensions to my 2016

I'd call touratech. They might know and if not I bet they will tell you to try them and if they don't fit return them. They have really good customer service from my experience.

Yeah the deal is I've had them on my other S10s with the extentions. I stayed in the 2012 and 2013 model years for three bikes really enjoying the low cost for holdovers. a deer hit last Summer destroyed my beloved White 2013 and I could not find anymore pre-2014 holdovers so had to make the jump to the Gen2. And Actually getting an ES i'm sorry I waited so long.

I like the TT hand guards because they are more stout than the OEM and weigh almost the same. My dual purpose and enduro wear barkbusters and for good reason when out riding crosscountry but that comes with the extra weight of the bars and mounts. I simply do not need that on the S10. None of my deer hits have broken levers and i use shorty, flexible and adjustables anyhow.

So speaking of TT customer service, when i reached out to them to get copies of invoices for all the TT items that I was turning into the insurance from the totaled bike they asked me for a police report which I sent. They replaced every bit I was losing at a fair discount. Blew me away. The only bummer is that it has taken six months to get all the TT items. They warned me but at the price I was OK waiting. So I just got my last shipment on Friday which included the hand guards and extentions. And I was just about to tear open the bags when I noticed online at TT website the exclusion to on Gen1 bikes. I sent my TT guy an email so we;ll see what he says.

But like I said a little digging showed the Nick Sanders Gen 2 bike with the handguards and the same part numbers are shown.

I'll update with what I find.

cant say that they won't work, but the handle bars are not the same on the Gen 2 bikes. fatter center section, but they taper to the normal size towards the ends.

Confirmed. Does not fit with the supplied hardware. As Bryce states the tapered handlebars are one issue.

The supplied plastic collar will not fit around the handlebar and still allow the pinch bracket to go around.

Another issue is the hex bolts on the handlebar ends are too long.

Both issues are easily solved.

I had some thinner collars from previous techmounts and they worked fine.

For the end bolts I used the originals button head bots until i can get shorter cap heads.

Still like them for better coverage and being slightly more stout.
