Torque Wrench??

Where does one buy a torque wrench that is capable of low torque numbers..i.e. 12..13..14..15..16..17 pounds of torque? I noticed, in the manual, a very low torque number for the oil/drive shaft bolts.

Are you looking for foot lbs or inch pounds? I have a this one for inch pounds...does the job

For the bigger ones 3/8 and 1/2 inch drive I use a set I got from Home Depot. Their Husky Brand.

There are a bunch of ~20-250 in-lb units out there which are appropriate for lower range stuff like you see on a motorcycle. I wouldn't use a 10-75 ft-lb model in the <15 ft-lb range.

Harbor Freight. 3/8 drive for low torque numbers like 5 ft/lb and 1/2 drive for larger numbers like 100+ ft/lbs. They are cheap and appear to be pretty accurate when checked with my more expensive wrench.

Three things to do with a torque wrench;

Use it.

Use the correct range...I own three, all are necessary. Most accurate in the middle of it's range.

Set adjuster back to bottom of range when you put it away.....stays calibrated this way.

I got a Kobalt from Lowes for the upper end and a Craftsman from Sears for the lower end - both for less than $100, I think.

Keep in plastic cases, don't drop em, and always store "relaxed" to the bottom of the range.
