My buddy just got a drz400 so we went for a ride. Ended up on some tuff sections for the super 10. The tourtech bars took a beating on one of my get offs. My tank didn't fair to well the bars did well but I wonder if the altrider bars would have done a better job?

I don't really think any brand or style of crash bars would have prevented that. You dropped the bike on a hill, at just the right angle and onto a huge rock no less.....

Not a lot is going to save the upper part of your tank from that. Sorry man!

the super 10 fuel tank isn't that expensive actually. Looked it up on bikebandit.com it's around 380-450$ my R6 is over 600$. I may end up switching over to the altrider bars. Or modify the TT bars with more protection for the aggressive riding I do.

The Altrider bars are 1" tubing. The TT is both 18mm (.7") to 25mm (.98"). To me, the Altrider using all 1" tubing provides more protection, and looks more robust to me. I have Altrider on my bike and they have done well in my get offs. Only scratches on the bars, and spray paint solves that. But like has been said, for more aggressive riding, I would get the Rumbux.

Ain't nothing was going to save the tank.

I had a drop at 0 speed on the same right hand side. The TT bars are not as severe but did bend at the same region. Only a slight cosmetic scratch where it contacted the tarmac. It was the original plastic crash guards that prevented the TT bar from totally collapsing inwards.

The metal tubes used by TT are thin wall and are not very strong. I bet the smaller diameter bars are thicker.

I have bought some ratchet straps to pull the bars back to shape. Haven't found the time and place to do it.
