I have the basic TomTom 400, works well, battery lasts well and it works fine with Tyre (I got a free pass to Tyre Pro in the box) which allows you to load routes via a cable and not muck about with memory cards.

I haven't used the 'winding routes' or hilly/non hilly features but others like them, if you go off route it re calculates very quick.

Mine is bit exposed on the bars and once its really wet the screen can be slow to react to fingers, but I have seen this on other machines.

Got mine from getgeared on line and as the price was high enough its on 0% over 12 months - no brainer!

Howdy,
Just another thought the Zumo 660 is pretty cheap at the moment since the 665 came out. On Amazon about a $250 savings over the 390. Comes with a mount with a wiring harness and a full Ram set up for a clutch perch (clutch perch part will not work with the Tenere, went with a u bolt clamp to handlebar style). I've added an anti glare/protective shield and have found it very readable in direct sun light. Very happy.
Later,
Norm

I would say Garmin for North America, and Tom Tom for Europe...
Why would TomTom be worse in North America.
And if it is how much worse?
I can live with some worse for a few hundereds of dollars diffrence.
