I dont know why people are saying you can adjust the forks while riding.. you can't. If you start moving, the screen changes showing you what setting you are on and not until you STOP can you change the soft, normal or hard settings. I have a 2016 ES.

Uh....I have a 2016 ES and I change from soft to standard to hard all the time while moving (this only adjusts the damping, not the preload) You can only change to whatever is preset to those 3 parameters though. To adjust the damping level in each or the preload (only adjusts the rear spring) you need to be stopped, neutral, engine on.

OK Im going to try this later today. So when your riding, and you start moving do you see the screen change when its on the damping mode? You can change it when its on that mode? I'll give it a try.

(I'm going from memory here) While riding, toggle the menu screen till it comes up with the damping settings. Then toggle the selector switch on top to change from soft to standard to hard. You cannot change the range of each setting while moving though.

VRODE, your memory is correct. Generally, on-the-fly, I either need hard or soft. (Y'all get your minds out of the gutter) I, usually, don't need "standard". All other adjustments, as previously mentioned, require the bike to be stopped in neutral. Hmmmm....I wonder....stopped in neutral, or just in neutral. Have to try. ::001::

I'm in the process of buying another Tenere. Had a 2013 about a year ago and sold it. Really had no complaints with it. Never noticed any shakes, shimmys or anything that some say they suffer from. My debate now is if I should buy another 2013 fully farkled for a great deal or spend a few grand more for less farkles but get cruise and ES. I really think I could go either way with the ES as I don't feel it a necessity but the Cruise is something I've never had but would love to try. Just seems really nice. I'm searching for the right bike but at this point don't know if I go pre 14 or not.

For those that have owned both a pre 14 and a 14 or newer is there really that much difference to make the extra cost worth it?

I had a 2012 and sold it to buy a 2016 ES. I mainly wanted the OEM heated grips, cruise, and ES. I thought I would use the cruise more than I actually do but that being said I havent done any long highway miles yet so when that day comes I'm sure I'll be happy the cruise is there. I really like the ES and use it pretty regularly. Maybe its in my head but I feel like the 2016 is smoother and has better power than my 2012. I think the extra money is worth it for the 2014+ but really its hard to go wrong either way.
