To all that have installed the later version in your bikes and especially those that rode quite a distance to the rally, would you do it again?
I hear some are reporting loud rattling when the engine is hot, others are loving it. For those of us on the fence, do we jump or sit?
Thanks

There are two active threads here on the CCT. About 300 posts. If your old style CCT is making alarming noise at start up, change it. Change it to what? At this point there is no consensus regarding the new 2014 CCT from Yamaha or a mechanical CCT from the after market.

My oem CCT (22,000 miles) is not making noise so I am staying tuned.

Good timing with your question as I'm wondering the same thing. I have a 2014 CCT in the box and not going to change it until I hear more about the noise with the new CCT. The original is not making any noise right now at 21K and I certainly don't want to create a new problem.

Any updates from those that have the noise after changing to the new CCT? What was the remedy?

Figure if you are going to order a new CCT for maintenance purposes for 2013 and prior years, this is the CCT that you will get anyway, since it is an updated part number for all years. just verify that its operational. unless you have a stockpile of the old CCT design, you have no choice ::021::

Got mine change for a 2014 nder waranty this week. My S10 is a 2012 with 52000 km. Was making wayyy to much noise on start up. So far, so good :) and it seems to be running a tiny bit smoother too...

I just called action yamaha that is doing my warranty engine case work and asked them not to install the new CCT.
My ST has 32K+ miles and while it sounds somewhat like a diesel, this swap just seems uncertain.
I just want to ::021:: so this new CCT is going into parts bin for now.

Not sure when the part number switched, but had mine changed in April this year. 8K miles so far and still nice and quiet.
