Thoughts on Rotopax mounted on a Jesse tail box?

Been looking at these mounts. What if I put reinforcement pieces on the sides of the Jesse top box and mounted 1.75 gallon tanks on either side??? Would that work? I don't have saddlebags yet and it's gonna be awhile. When I do get them, I think wolfman soft bags.

Thoughts?

That's a lot of weight up high. If your thinking Wolfman, they have Rotopax mounts for their Explorer racks, puts the weight lower and further forward. Also, think 1-gallon cans, not 1.75.

I mounted a Rotopax on the bottom of one OEM panier with another on the tail rack. I don't run this setup anymore.

Thanks...
And ya I know they have the mounts for their set up... Just a matter of affording it really... I'm a dod firefighter and getting furloughed, so money is going to be tight. But I am gonna need to get away... We shall see...

Might install 1 gallon underneath my TraX panniers but not sure about the look though since they will stick out a bit.
Still think put the 1 or 1.75 gallon ones outside the side carriers and run soft panniers on top.

Boondocker, did you have a problem with the one gallon Rotopax mounted to the bottom of the OEM panniers?

I've got one mounted, it's usually empty , only filled when I need it. It is heavy up high, the 1.75 may be to much.

Had this rig on my Beloved Tiger 1050 (RIP) 1.5 gal Kolpin can mounted front of my Trax bag.
I did back it inside the box with a thin piece of plastic cutting board cut to the shape of the tank mount.

I drilled four extra holes to this mount for a uniform mount.

I've never carried spare fuel before but was thinking of doing so - Rotopax on the back of a Metal Mule pannier - for the IBA European Tour in September as we're likely to be in places where fuel is sparse and, unfortunately, even with the bigger tank the Tenere doesn't have the range of our GSA. Why have you stopped using them?
