Really new to the Super T. I've just put over 4500Kms on it in the past 2 months. Lot's of time through Alberta and British Columbia including one of Canada's fastest highways (Coquihalla Pass 120kms/hr). Many of these Kms I was loaded up with gear and traveling with Harley Davidson CVO touring bikes. Not only was I able to keep up to the lead pack, I was way more agile in the twists. Love the bike, plenty of speed and running stock engine. I'm a big guy as well and the bike didn't seem to strain at all.

Hi Klenoth,
You can make your bike go faster, it will just take money to do it.
You have some mods on your bike but it hasn't been tuned for them so more than likley running a little 'flat'.
A power commander or re-flash is probably the cheapest fix for this at this stage.

Power/speed costs money, lots of money! I race an R1 in club and national championships and have spent many thousands of dollars to make this bike performe to its best. Secondary to speed is weight, start loosing weight of the machine and it will go and stop faster too. loosing weight is cheaper than creating HP.

The S10 is never going to be a sports bike and will never approach sports bike performance, its a huge parallel twin softly tuned for the purpose it is designed for.
Enjoy learning to ride the bike to its potential, have a play with the suspension and fit some road biased tyres and you be supprised what its capable of doing and what bikes/riders get left in your wake ;)

Has it really come down to that, being happy keeping up with Harley's??

Glad you are happy with the bike.

Ok Rob, after this I'll try to put this to rest. ::002:: This is an S-10 forum after all and it's straying way off topic. The Super Tenere is the slowest of the big adventure bikes. Period. Besides not having abundant HP, it is the heaviest. Even the new V-Strom with a deficit of 162cc's and a little less HP, spots it so much in weight that it will accelerate harder. Yes, the S-10 is more than enough for some, but for the original poster, it's not. Is it wrong for someone to want more power than what the Big Blue Pig has to offer? Although he asked if others felt that way about theirs, he seemed more interested in what, if anything, could be done to give it more power. What he got for responses, more often than not were," this bike is more than enough for me so something must be wrong with yours", to him being overweight, to being a Troll, to advise on how to ride the bike, with a smattering of helpful advise or at least words of encouragement, from Big Blu, Markjenn, and Saddletramp, to name a few.
My point was, and I'm not wavering from it, is that as one's skill set increases one's need or desire for more power increases with it. This bike is the most powerful bike some on here have ever ridden because they are either new to riding or have come from smaller or less powerful bikes. Nothing wrong with that, and that this is the top rung of the ladder for them. The fact remains that there are some on here with more motorcycling experience and a higher skill set that had higher expectations for the S-10 because of the performance of previous motorcycles they have owned. I'm sure there are those out there that can be content riding for many years on a bike with mundane power and never want more but I would question their skill set. Not everybody pushes themselves to reach a higher level of riding ability and so their skill set is dormant.

On a personal level I'm sorry that you have lost your fascination with speed, kinda like losing your sex drive I guess. It's just when I hear comments about a CBR1000RR, like " there wasn't a vehicle on the road save for a few super cars that could match it for sheer power" that I realize how limited your motorcycling experience really is.
I have not lost my fascination with speed, I simply do not concur with you that you want a machine that is specifically made to be what it is to be something else. When I want speed, I ride a superbike.

I agree, the S10's power is ideal for an adventure bike. You don't buy a Land Rover and then complain that it won't do 150mph, a Porche Cayenne probably will but you wouldn't want to take it off road.
IMO the OP should px his S10 for a superbike.

Someone please build a Hotter Cam for this great bike. I love the power but 100BHP would be pretty nice. My 2006 Vee was right at 100 rear wheel horse power with the mods it had. If the S10 had 100 at the tire I think it would be much quicker. I did ride with a buddy who has a BMW R12GSA Water cooled and the S10 stayed right with it. And He is a little guy! And I am NOT. Love this bike though. And I know speed, I have a 1999 Hayabusa with 168 RWHP. ::022::

The 10 is definitely not a rocket like any of the liter class sport bikes but a slouch it is NOT.

Could it use a bit more? Sure but is it enough? Absolutely.

My guess would be technique. I have NO issue passing any cager. Downshift, sometimes twice, and HAMMER the throttle...done deal.

I found that the throttle on the 10 has a fairly long rotation and sometimes when I first got it I thought it was a bit soft as well, but then found that when you rotate that last few degrees it picked up that little bit extra I wanted.

I know English isn't the guy's first language, but he did say "This bike is to slow". (i.e too slow.)

To most owners and for a variety of reasons explored in the numerous posts, the bike is not too slow for them. If he had said "How do I make this bike faster?", the reponses and the tone of the responses would have likely been very different.

A reflash and a full exhaust system (getting rid of the power-sucking catalyzer) really wakes up the Super Tenere. The full exhaust especially benefits the upper RPM power although it adds power everywhere.

I rode my friend's FJR the other day and it felt really slow in comparison below 7,000 rpms.

Have just sent a mail to a dealer that have a 2012 Kawazaki GTR1400, and if they will take my S10 for a reasonable good trade-inn price I probably will be a owner of a new bike.

If that deal goes to shit, well I suppose I have to order a reflash kit and try that. Tried the clutch mod and it made some difference.

If I were you, I would try for the trade. The flash will not improve you top end, it just going to improve the bottom end.

well ive just got back from a tour of spain and portugal and i have to say that for me the S10 had more than enough power & did everything i asked of it, when i got back i gave it a clean and its ready to go again next wk to germany & cz . no fuss, no problems , nothing to adjust , it just takes everything in its stride ... yes its heavier & has less power that the opposition , but i dont want 125 or 145 bhp, if i did i would have gone and got the ducati ...the S10 engine is built to be ultra reliable and thus is in a very low state of tune ... at the end of the day if you find the bike slow then you have bought the "wrong bike " ...swap it for another ..problem solved .
