Are you accepting PayPal donations to be able to fill that thing?

Some talented work going on there. ::008::

Looking forward to the third installment of this story - the part where the body shop turns out a masterpiece paint job and of course, how it all fits back together, looks on the bike, and your performance observations.

Kudos to you and Jaxon for taking on this innovative and challenging project.

JS3,

TRULY IMPRESSIVE, both for the original idea and for what looks to be excellent work there! ::012::

Now as to the finish paint job, since you have the opportunity, are you gonna have the color changed to something other than the original as well? I dunno like maybe the fast blue. >:D

kewl stuff. Thanks.

Looks like 1) Ebay will be getting busy soon and 2) we will see jaxon on the Discovery Channel soon.

Nice job!

That looks awesome!!! Looking forward to hearing how the bike feels with the extra fuel, and seeing how it looks when it's all put back together!

JS3, New warning label needed 'operators bladder capacity must exceed six hours' ::013:: And yes, why is that annoying fuel fill restrictor still in place? ::007:: Nicely done. ::008::

I wonder if it would be possible to make a tank out of plastic - I used to have one of those white plastic bubble tanks on my XT500...

Great work for sure.

I have a link to a guy that did a demo on making a CF/kevlar tank. He started with a tank just as Jaxon did, used clay to build up to size he wanted. Long process of making fiberglass molds both negative and positive to get to the finished product. But when done, you could use the mold over and over. Too much work for me tho.

The body work is done and its in primer... We had a small issue with the first batch of custom paint.. I spent 2+ hours yesterday with the paint "mixer guru" at the paint supplier.. We got the color correct... Just need to shoot it... I have a few pictures.. I will try and post soon... Yamaha does not publish paint codes and "color right" is not close enough for our standards.......

Jaxon one thing I've read about is some sort of internal "lining" in the manufacturers tank. Is that true? If so will the tank be unlined or relined?

Colorrite lists paint for the Super Tenere in both the Blue and the Black...

http://colorrite.com/

Don't know if you tried them, so I just thought I'd toss it out there. :)

Can't wait to see the finished tank!

Colorright is "OK" if someone wanted to do a quick job.... But over the years Ive seen there match paint... its not 100% match... More times than not its close but no C'gar ! Also there clear's are not that great and Ive seen issues in the past. We use high end automotive (HOK, PPG, SW, Etc.) paint that is custom matched. We also can use other clears with different hardness's. We can be in control of all aspects of chemicals like sealers, etch primers, paints, clears, Etc... Much better product in the end ! ::008::
