I have noticed something recently - and this should maybe be a topic for a different thread altogether - but I think I get more animated "hello" waves as I pass by people riding BMW, Suzuki, or other adventure bikes as opposed to HDs, cruisers, or sportbikes.

I think the adventure riders could very well be a motorcycling "culture within a culture" where we are just stoked when we see fellow riders out on adventure bikes (I don't see that many - of any particular kind). I'll even give them a thumbs up and a wave if I see them coming early enough.

I have one of the best what is that bike stories. Several years ago I was on a long road trip on my 2000 Roadstar Silverado at a gas station up by dinosaur national park and some guy walks up to me and asked what type of Harley is that since he never saw one that was as gorgeous as this one was. SOOOO I couldn't resist the urge and told him that I couldn't tell him which Harley it was and said I was a long term test rider for Harley Davidson. He was so excited about the bike and was looking at all the chrome and I think I saw drool coming out of the corner of his mouth. So after about 10 minutes of screwing with this guy I said hey it is a Yamaha. The look on his face was priceless and he stood up and said Ohh and turned and walked away. I laughed so hard I almost pissed my pants.

Wasp had them with his tank sticker kit way back as well..
