I'm also hoping to ride to Alaska next year (do the run to Prudhoe); due to my crazy work schedule, I will need to schedule my trip from Mid-June to Mid-July (if next year is like this year).

That is ideal timing snow/daylight/weather wise. Just watch out for mosquitoes and tourists. And of course, the locals. I don't know about Alaska, but Yukon drivers are the worst in the world. Hands down. No exceptions. Any one who disagrees with me, I'll run you down with my truck because I won't see you.

They are really bad, so just be forewarned. Maybe we can to the first annual Tenere thing then and I can give you all an informative session on the perils of driving in the Yukon. R

This works for me Rem!!! Just DO IT!!! Pick a date and location (I assume Whitehorse) and post up all the details. People will come - trust me!!! Many will plan their trips to Alaska around your date.

;)

OK I'll get started on it when I get back. I think we can let the dates float a little at first, within a range. I'll see if I can get commitment from Yamaha (local and national), Yukon Territorial Government and City of Whitehorse. Perhaps Harley might want to .... KIDDING. I'll keep you posted on my progress, assuming I have any. Bye for now. R

Well... I am feeling like a recluse compaired to our Bard of the Yukon - Rem. With that said - lets make this a gathering in Yukon with a ride to the Arctic Circle either on the Dempster or the Trans Alaska Haul Road. It would be an epic adventure for the first ever North American Tenere gathering. The awakening of the beast, called forth from the east...

No worries. I was gonna contact you guys as soon as I get back from 'laska. could you send me your local contact info?

By the way, my buddy Nick just cancelled on his Tenere, so there is a vacant slot. If you know of anyone interested, have them contact Gary at YY. Talk to you soon. R

Thanks for "volunteering" Rem!!! Yes, I'd guess the dates can float for a while, but many will need to arrange vacations, etc. Of course us retired folks just get up and go whenever we want............. 8)

The closest I've come to being retired was when I had to put on that new set of Michelins a couple weeks ago. At least I felt re-tired for a while. R

Never say "crack up" on a motorcycle forum.

Perhaps what you may have meant to say was ....

"Your frequent attempts, and isolated successes, at humor have led me to believe that you may be capable of producing an occasional smile and/or chuckle from forum members who are willing to lower their standards and cut you some substantial slack. Upon this single occasion, you have succeeded. Having said that, please do not feel obligated to continue to try."

Something like that. And thanks. R
