We was working our way to the crossing of the Dirty Devil river, we thought once we made it there it would be easy riding on out to the highway and water!
Because on my topo map the road was listed as easy two sold lines like a car dirt road. and I had read another ride report of some guys on bikes that came up to the crossing and it looked deep so they stopped and a car came by and didn't even stop just drove right through.

Russ sent me this one E-Mail

Lots of sand.

The Dirty Devil.

Then we started to climb away from the Dirty Devil on a good road.

But it soon dropped back down into a dry creek bed and became the worst rock and sand trap we came across. It made minuets seem like hours. It was about 100*F and No water to drink.
I never took another picture because we were just trying to survive.
I don't know how Ken could possibly be riding through this wounded.
When we came to Poison Spring, I stuck my head under just to cool off then I took off and never stopped again until I had water to drink.
I guess Russ and Ken couldn't resist and drank from the spring.
Corbin got a mouth full but spit it back out, he just couldn't swallow.
Later a UTV with two guys working [testing the water of the Dirty Devil River] came by and gave them guys some water to drink, that would be the only other guys we seen on this whole road for the two days we were on it.
We all made it out to Hanksville for fresh water and some food and rest.

Tuesday afternoon from Hanksville to the rally we rode in rain most of the way.
That highway 12 in Utah looked awesome but in rain I took no pictures.
So I set up my tent and stood around the fire for a while.

This is Buelligan's Picture

Wednesday morning the group ride headed for Page AZ. and sunny skies.

And one of the nicest guys I have ever met, Fatallybitten

Thursday morning Gunner handed out the door prizes then we headed off on the group ride.
This would turn out to be a fantastic day of riding! Just Beautiful scenery and great riding partners.

First up was Zion National Park.
We had a great leader in TwoLukes who also turned out to be a new great friend.

Then North up to Duck Creek for lunch.

Out to the Lava Tubes.

Out to Strawberry Point.

Luke

Then back to camp.

Last night at the Rally. RAIN

By Thursday morning Corbin, Russ and Ken had all left for home.
Friday morning I woke up to cool temps but clear sky.
Time to head for home but plenty of exploring to do on the way.

Monument Valley

Valley of God.

Hovenweep

I camped at Hovenweep that night.

Into Colorado the next morning.

Wolf Creek Pass

Eastern Colorado is more remote than Poison Spring Road.

Camped in a small city park. It wasn't even a town, No stores. Five houses.

And one last picture before pulling into the drive.

That's all of a great adventure and new friends and a Great trip.
Thanks for reading and May God Bless You as he has me.

I had to skip for a work trip and am sorry it worked out that way. The photos are fantastic, as is your report - but then yours always are.

...I'm always looking for new guys to ride off road with so keep me in mind if your interested.
I go through riding buddies like water in the desert, My wife and son are the only ones still sticking with me.
Don't count me out. I regret not being able to connect up with you guys in CO. For those not knowing I played cat & mouse following Steve's Spot Tracker for 2 days trying to join with them. From your group's stories, good chance I might have regretted it though as I was packed heavy with the big Jesse's for 3 weeks on the road.

I've actually not been that far from your home, working in Cedar Rapids the last couple of weeks. We had dinner last night at the Irish Democrat Pub. Hopefully, that job's now done.

Steve, you're too kind! The honor was mine getting to meet and ride with you. Some of those places scare me! And you just ride through! Wow!!! Look forward to meeting and riding with you again at the Rally next year, once we figure out where to have it and when... :). Safe travels my new friend. Prayer heading your way!
