Those little red gates are almost always closed when I'm around, but yesterday they were open and I was on the S10. Too good an opportunity to pass-up. Apparently hunting on Sunday is still off limits and no one was around (been a long time since I've been hunting). That was good and bad. Being alone in the middle of no where, miles from the nearest real road, with a nearly dead cell phone battery...not that it would have worked there anyway, plus low on gas made me extremely conservative. When the trail looked like it was about to get fun with challenges, I made the conservative decision to not take any chance. Too bad looked like fun.

These hunting trails are in very good condition. WV is such an awesome state. Love to go exploring these things sometime. Just can't do it alone and I'm not sure I want to put Dirt Mom on this stuff just yet.

Spring gobbler season closes in 2 weeks. They will likely close the gates again. Just a heads up.

I thought you would have the answer. Do they have sites like this throughout the state? I was surprised at how nice the trails were for such a rarely used network.

Well my original plans fell through from May 21st-27th and I will be in the North Carolina/West Virginia area and will be looking for roads to ride and things to see. I only have the stock tires on, and don't think I could do those trails, but if you are looking for somebody to ride with I would love to meet up.

Any chance of you getting north two days earlier? You could join a bunch of your fellow Tenere riders.

A lot of opportunity to see some great WV roads.

There is a network of Wildlife Management Areas throughout the state and each has its own rules. Most have a network of roads and trails but are foot travel only. Some open the roads for a given season and it varies year to year with management objectives; in your case, likely either spring gobbler season or spring bear dog training.
