I was cruising along at reduced pace as the whole area was as slippery as snot, when I rounded a bend that was particularly greasy and the rear overtook the front sending me heading towards a pool of water and a nasty looking tree.
Thankfully the bars and left peg dug in and slowed the bike down just as the front went up the embankment.
Reports from the next rider about 50meters behind was that it was a very spectacular slide, full speedway style, went on for ages, (I knew there was no way of saving it) and the wall of water that was thrown up was huge... ::025::
All was fine with the bike. It stayed on its side in the water for 4 or 5 minutes as everyone had a huge laugh, then popped up with relative ease (apart from the ground being slippery as buggery) and started immediately and without hesitation. 8)
There are a couple of light scratches on the left side now (to match the ones on the right) + a slightly bend shift rod, but that will beat out no problem..
Any crash that you can brush off with out harm and minimal damage is a good one, and all in all it was another great day out with the mates.

Greg.

Glad you are okay and only a few scratches on the bike. Just a little more character for it.

Certainly looks like you were having fun - good to see you weren't hurt. Carry-on to the next challenge. ;D

All good. That reminds me of some of the stuff we were on a few weeks ago. I felt as if I could crash at any moment but somehow the thing plowed through it. Looks like you were dealing with a pretty good crown on the road and likely going a good deal faster than we were. Looks like you got off OK even without crash bars though. Glad your body held together too! 8)

Looks like something I would do but with a lot less style and more mud ground into my gear. ::26::

I assume you had the ABS and TC shut off.

I think there are even a few YouTube vids with his ABS and TC turned off. It kills the speedo too.

Nice Greg. Very big bike to be running in those conditions sans TC and ABS, carry on.

Any thoughts about putting some type of crash bar on it? Not trying to be a smart ass here-just curious.

I did have crash-bars on for quite a while Pete. SWMotech actually.
I dont really like any of them though as they are all too heavy, and did/do plan on making my own simple single bar set one day.
I generally dont fall too often (surprising considering the shit that I put this beast through), but when I do they have only been silly little ones.

Understood and thanks for the reply. I just read the thread(yeah, I'm a little behind in my reading!) on "The Barge" also know as "How To Crash A Super Tenere" and all I have to say is you folks down under are really giving these bikes a work out!! Carry on!!! :)

Great story. Glad you both are ok. Love it. It's the second one I have read about in my couple week search about the S10. Glad you are ok, the fellow in the other story woke up in care facility in (can't remember the country) but the folks said the bike could have been ridden in for repairs. I figure you'll all probably know the other story ....
