Sounds like it adds start and stop to speed shifting. For riders already accustomed to speed shifting, it doesn't seem like a huge attitude adjustment will be needed.

Let's face it, we motorcyclist are a dying breed. Anything that can entice more riders into the fold is good for all of us. Honda is trying.

If they have to be enticed this hard, what's the point? A certain type of person rides bikes. Changing bikes so much that they're not so much like bikes? That type of person will be different. And likely not in a really good way. Self-balancing and e-clutches? It's called a car. Without a roof.

Some small and cheap cars have been with that type of transmission for a long time. They call it “robotic” or “intelligent”….it has a dry disc clutch, a gearbox with gears, it does not have a clutch pedal and they add an electric actuator that pushes the clutch and releases it gently or quickly (depending on the situation)... .it is much simpler than an automatic transmission (with converter and wet disc clutches)…..cheaper and the shifting is smooth….it uses a speed sensor, accelerator position sensor and clutch lever position sensor…..
