Unfortunately I had to cancel my room reservation today. A necessary change in our family vacation trip to visit our son in Biloxi made it fall during the same week as the TX event. I was looking forward to riding back roads all the way down there and back with William42, but today's unexpected schedule change made that impossible for me at this time.

I hope to be able to make the AR event to see you all this Fall.

Wow, Fred! Really sorry to hear that... :(

Was truly looking forward to doing some riding with since we missed that opportunity in Missouri a couple of years ago. Sure hope you have a terrific time visiting with you son in Biloxi, though. Nothing is more important than family. Perhaps you can make it if we put something like this together next year.

And while I'm posting... Let me remind everyone that tomorrow - March 1st - is the final deadline for reserving a room with the group code at the Y.O. Ranch Resort hotel (http://www.yoranchhotel.com/). With Fred's cancellation I think that means there are now 3 rooms left in the group block (there were only 2), so if you need to lock down a room that guarantees you'll have one this your chance. Group is:

STSRIDE314

Again, really sad you can't make the ride, Fred. We'll all have to hoist a beverage or two in your honor! ::003::

Hi Dallara,

Yes, I have been looking forward to this trip to TX for some time. Unfortunately the change in my son's schedule threw a wrench in this. This is my older son who is my riding buddy and I get to do a couple of bike trips with him each year. My wife, on the other hand, does not get as many opportunities to spend time with him as I do, so this trip was originally planned for her to visit with him in April, but that had to be changed to the week of March 17. Got to keep Mama happy. :)

Have a great time and I know that one of these days we'll get together for a ride.

OK, Folks.

The deadline has passed on getting a guaranteed rate and one of the "blocked" rooms for the group. That doesn't mean the Y.O. won't have rooms right up to the ride date, so even if you decide to come to the ride at the last minute you may still be able to stay there. The room rates can get pretty high, though, the longer you wait.

I am waiting to get the latest, updated reservation list from the Y.O., but right now it looks like we're going to have a pretty good turnout there. What I don't have a handle on is how many people will be camping and where they'll all be.

What I would like to ask now is that if you are coming to the ride, whether you are staying at the Y.O. or not, that you *PLEASE* post here in the thread with something like this:

Rider: Dallara
Home: Corpus Christi, TX
Bike: 2012 Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere
Transit: Riding my bike to the ride
Riding: Solo
Lodging: Y.O. Ranch Resort Hotel
Day in: Thursday - March 20, 2014
Day Out: Monday - March 24, 2014

The more info the better. I need this info to help finish the route planning, arrange stops at places like the "Lone Star Motorcycle Motorcycle Museum", plan for any group meal stops, etc. The better handle I can get on numbers, etc. the better I can work these kind of things out, so please post up your info. If you are reticent to post your plans and info in the thread please just send it to me via PM.

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you all there!

Dallara

Will you be posting a time and place we all meet like on Friday morning?
If I make it down I'd like to get in on the meet and breakfast from the start.

Yes, I will, Steve.

For the moment I'd say the best place to meet up for breakfast on Friday morning is the Y.O. Ranch Resort Hotel itself. It has a nice, large restaurant area with good breakfast buffet and good service, and it is reasonably priced, too. Lots of good, hot coffee and large, clean restrooms, too! ::025::

They also have a large parking lot, though last year at the 3rd Coast Ducati ride we used the large portico/drive-thru right at the front of the hotel, and the hotel was happy to oblige us with using that area each day of the three-day get-together. The Y.O. is also centrally located to be easy access out of town for ride route north, south, east, or west.

However, I am open to suggestions if anybody has another spot they think would be better for any of the days. If we have have no other ideas or suggestions appear in this thread then I think I will try to stick with the Y.O. as the launch base location each morning.

Thanks!

Where is everyone camping AND is it good for hanging a hammock? If weather cooperates I plan on riding down from Idaho and then possibly leaving on Sunday to get to Miami. All is kinda up in the air depending on weather and other circumstances.

Wish I knew how to trailer a bike :D that way I could trailer down to Mesquite, AZ and then take off from there. Where do you park a vehicle/trailer in a strange town for a week or two and be safe and not towed?

Oh well,
Hope to be there

Many thx Dallara for all the legwork involved with setting this shindig up. My preference is for more off than on road but I would like to ride the 3 Twisted Sisters area before the w/e is up. Looking forward to meeting the Texas contingent and the rest of the Teneristas that travel for this.

Hope this isn't all wishful thinking! The weather's been funny this winter, with huge swings between nice & spring-like, & real @#$% cold with snow & ice... & the forecast doesn't go out that far yet. I'm still gonna get the handwarmer grips on, & move toward a real Ride!

Everything depends on the weather, and if I will still have a job when I get back. One boss says no way, the other says go for it. [I think I'll go for it]

Hey other Bruce,
Medina Highpoint Resort has tent camping. Come join us and enjoy some food, beers and tall riding tails in the evenings. We may even get in some good bench racing too. :)
