I have been using my EMS Northstar tent since 1998. Its a 2 person tent that is very very light and the poles are strong but light. I have snow camped and summer camped in it. Its the best tent I have ever had and used. I am tempted to find a 1 person tent for bike camping but not sure I see the benefit of it over a super light weight 2 person.

The Ténéré Expedition Tent by Nomad Tents has caught my interest. Plenty of stand up room and storage, appears to be all weather capable easy to put up and durable. Has anyone used one of these or have a bad experience with one.

Hi Salty, I have one of those tents, havent used it yet. Packs small and looks good, but been using the swag (kind off loving the swag at the moment because its new to me. and like watching the stars from bed). I know im replying to an older post but if you havnt got one yet, I will let you know how it goes when I do use it. Just recieved a new double swag today that mite be of intrest to others. It packs tiny and is very light... around 2.6kg. Its made out of the same material as small tents. I havent taken any pics yet (just set it up in my lounge quickly for a look) not sure if im allowed to posts links on here, but I got it of ebay.

Hi japako, heres the link to that swag.....http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DOUBLE-SIZE-BED-CAMPING-SWAG-DOME-TENT-WATERPROOF-MOZZY-FLY-SCREEN-MESH-NET-NEW-/110848377854?pt=AU_Tents&hash=item19cf1403fe

It looks good, only thing I could dislike about it, is the top flymesh has no zip, so only way in and out is from the front. Not much of a problem the opening is big, just prefer getting in from the top, if the ground is muddy. Anyway its another option to look at, I like it because its light, and packs small.

Thanks for posting the link. That looks like a nice setup for camping.

Ceebus: The Nomad is a brilliant tent. My wife and I lived out of one for a few months around Italy and southern Europe last year. Quick setup and teardown, very very high build quality, tons of thoughtful features, decent wind resistance, fairly small packing size and weight. The tenere fits easily inside with all 3 boxes attached, but we never really used the "garage" to store the yammie, except when security was an issue and we wanted it tucked out of sight while we went off somewhere (not often). But that vestibule makes a perfect camp. Tall enough I could stand up comfortably (I'm six 2). I packed a heavy linen tablecloth to use as a washable, shakeable floor, set up the sidebags as a table in the middle, and could cook, read, get real drunk, sit and watch the ocean, for hours in the hot sun or rain and everything in between. With four openings/flaps, you can keep the shade moving all day, and with no floor, there is no mess inside the tent, and it's great for beach stuff (or even after showers inland) because you can dry off comfortably without getting the tent wet inside. The inside of the tent is also large enough for an emergency third sleeping berth, and certainly to have all of your gear inside with you while you sleep...safe, convenient at night. In short, I adore this tent, and highly endorse it. Much like the tenere, I'll never live without one again!

We've got one person tents that are great for backpacking, but for the motorcycle, I prefer to have a bit of gear and stretch room. Especially so if on the road for more than a couple of days. It is just total luxury to be able to move around in the tent. I also like the second door, since I don't have to drag in wet/dirty boots for trips in the middle of the night.
So for the bike I really like the ALPS Meramac 3 person, which is currently on Amazon for a whopping $76. Like EEMSReno wrote, tents shouldn't go in a saddlebag and these sit nicely on the lid of a pannier or in my back seat duffle.

Camping with the Redverz! This is a great tent if your not afraid of a little more weight and pack size! I also use the Nemo Morpho 2p tent. Pushing 50yrs old it sure is nice to have the extra space....crawling around on all fours is getting harder!

REI half dome for me. Got it for back packing because of it's size and weight years ago. I use a small blue tarp for the foot print. It's small, inexpensive and light weight too.
