I've looked in the UK and Germany, and haven't found anything.....

Does such a thing even exist?

eBay

Search for Protar in models & kits.

There's a couple of 660 models listed. Not 1200's I know but ...

Jaxon, not knowing exactly what kind of "toy" or model you are looking for, or the size you need, complicates finding one a bit, but there are perhaps some "out-of-the-box" ways you can go...

Of course, a lot depends on just how much you want to spend! :D

If there are absolutely no commercial die-cast or plastic models, kit or built-up, available you can try looking in your area for a good, commercial wood carver. We had literally an entire Indy Car, in about 1/8 scale, carved completely out of balsa wood by one hell of a carver in Indianapolis. Still have it. He carved the entire main section of the car from one piece of wood in *incredible* detail, then he carved the wheels, wings, etc. out of other pieces of balsa, and lastly he carved suspension members out of harder woods, glued them to the tub, and then attached the wheels. The entire thing was painted just like our race car, and again, in amazing detail.

For a little more money you can get folks to resin-cast you a model... Simple ones are pretty cheap, and the more complex and detailed you get the more expensive it gets.

You can also have custom model scratch-builders do you a model, though that can get pretty expensive. One of the best in the world lives right up there in your area - Dennis Koleber - http://www.denniskoleber.com/ He does motorcycles model, and I have several cars he has done, including a 1/10 scale Ford GT-40 Mark IV. The Mark IV was completely scratch-built, and the detail is staggering, but the cost was pretty high. Again, simpler stuff is cheaper.

Another avenue is finding somebody up there that does 3-D printing. In theory they could *print* you a small, decently detailed little model, and then you have a good model builder paint it up for you. This might be the cheapest avenue of all.

Anyway, just some thoughts... :)

Hey bud...

This is something that is going to be apart of a bigger deal to be given away at the Colorado ride, its not for me. Thanks for looking, I wanted everyone to keep in the back of there head for the next six months in case someone happened upon one.. :)

I was thinking the same thing on the rapid development printing... Ive built mock up parts with this before and I think the bike would be way to fragile for the 'Colorado Tenere Rally'....

Asia is the key to this question. I spend alot of time in Shanghai, Taipei and Tokyo. These cities have malls with whole stores devoted to replicas. If anyone is in Asia it wouldn't take them much time to find out if the S10 is out yet. As of October the S10 had not shown up in the stores in Shanghai. There are many manufacturers but Maisto is a big one.

They will also show up on ebay when released.

So I would say that the 1:12, 1:18 qnd 1:24 replica of the S10 has not be built yet.

I go back over in March so will look again.

When there is a die-cast available, I want one for sure. this one will sit on my desk or table wherever I sit. It is a must have.

Then i promise you a good, skilled local wood carver could whittle you up a very nice model, and it will surprise you just how accurate they can be. It may not have individual spokes, but a good wood craftsman can simulate a nice motorcycle wheel in dozens of different ways...

Here's a couple of examples of what I'm talking about...

Given that the Super Tenere is pretty *dense*, in that it has few *open* spaces and a pretty substantial fairing, etc. it should be relatively easy for the carver (as opposed to, say, something like a vintage Triumph) to replicate. It could then be painted, or you could simply finish it in clear like the models above. I think anyone would be proud to own something like those shown.

Just an idea, but you may want to start now if you want to go this route. Most of the carvers I have met have projects they are already working on, and they'll have to get your commission in line with their other work. That said, I have to say that once one of these guys starts your model they turn 'em out incredibly quick.

Wicked cool. Regardless if it fits the idea that Jaxon has in mind, That carving is amazing.

OK, so with the way this thread is progressing I wanted to finally break my silence and chime in. I'm based in mainland China (have been for 10 going on 11 years). When Jaxon first posted this request I was all over it, in an effort to help out albeit silently from afar. I've spent hours exploring and searching a wide range of websites especially taobao China B2C shop fronts in the hopes of obtaining the S10 for Jaxon. Back in 2011 some months after the XT1200Z/S10 was launched there were countless (hundreds) of S10 models of varying sizes of the bike available at the time on taobao. I considered buying one at the time but decided to buy a real life size model in Australia instead.

When Jaxon posted this request I thought "oh that's easy" and something I could do with ease. Well guess what, after searching on taobao extensively the S10 models are not advertised there any longer. I have tried searching using many different methods in both English and Mandarin on taobao, to no avail. This is one of the major stumbling blocks with China manufacturing in that items are mass produced for limited runs/time and then that's it. The other is that sometimes a product or component cannot be just translated across from English to Mandarin or vice-versa. Sometimes the Chinese words used and translated to English would and do provide an amusing insight into the limitations of language, since often times the words provided would offer no logical interpretation and meaning to the subject or object.
English is a clearly defined literal language while Mandarin is very figurative (and really lakes descriptive words), at least that is my take on it. There are just some words in English (as there are in all languages) that have no comparable word in Mandarin just to add the complex to the confused.

Anyway I digrees, so yesterday I had another go at trying to find a S10 and made a significant effort searching many different model manufacturers websites in China, Taiwan, UK and even the USA.
I looked at Gateway Global Inc., WSI MODELS, Unimax Toys Limited, TWH COLLECTABLES, Toy Zone Inc., Tonkin Replicas, Sword Precision Scale Models, Supercar Collectables Ltd., SPECCAST, Shiny Glow, MINILOR (Realtoys), Precision Die Cast, NZG, Norscot Group Inc., Motorhead Miniatures, LLC., Motorart International, Gateway Global Inc Minichapms), MAISTO, LUXURY COLLECTABLES, Playing Mantis, Juguetes Y Herrajes Joal SA (JOAL), JLG Diecast, Hotwheels, Highway 61, Guiloy S.A., GreenLight LLC, GMP Diecast, Racing Champs, Armour, Gateway Global Ltd., DIECAST, Auto World, BURAGO, M&D Int. Distibuters U.K., CASTLINE INC., Classic Metal Works Inc., Conrad MaBstabsmodell, Corgi Toys, DIECAST Promotions, ExactDetail Replicas, 2008 FIRST GEAR INC., Fly Car Models, Tamiya, and lastly Mattel.

Only the older XT750 super-tenere is found at the moment as was previously posted (pics below).

So far not one of those listed above has the S10 model. I'm sure that there will be one (likely many) some place but for now not one of the major model manufacturers have it as far as my searching has found.

That said, today it's snowing outside so I will shelve my AN650 Executive (my daily ride) and hop into my car instead and take my assistant to a model/toy shop to see if we can't track a left over S10 down, somewhere somehow.

Will report back.
