I wanted to get rid of the cheap plastic license plate frame with the dealer's name on it so looked around for something specific for Yamaha or even better the Super Tenere. Didn't find much, but did find a few sites that do custom frames. Tried to attach a .jpg proof from one of them of what I asked for. Not sure if I succeeded because it doesn't show up in the preview.

Anyway, I like the design but it's $50. The frame is black zinc, engraved. I haven't asked them yet but I'm hoping that if a few more people are interested we can get the cost down. Any takers? Please post to this thread vs. PMing me. If the photo doesn't show up maybe somebody can give me a pointer on how that works?

Thanks.

Ok, crickets on this one. Ends up I neglected to consider copyright issues with the Yamaha tuning forks logo that I scarfed off the web, and the printer has a problem with that. Despite that minor legal technicality, I thought it was a pretty slick design. Obviously not everyone appreciates my graphic design skills! ??? Good thing I still have a day job ... ;D

Of course it could be that y'all are either too cheap to pimp your ride with a $50 license plate frame or just don't appreciate fine art!!

Everybody has their take on appearance items. I am too cheap to spend $50 on something that doesn't really do anything. But it's all relative. I do have this silly piece of plastic on the back of the bike that cost me about $8k. And I did spend $10 to buy an older plate because I didn't like the current state plate options. (DMV allows use of older plates in some cases)

Here's how I rationalize the cost for a purely cosmetic upgrade: If I don't like something on the bike I'll notice it almost every time I mount up for the rest of the time I own it. Spending $50 on a license plate frame to avoid that tiny aggravation amortizes pretty quickly into pennies per ride. Well worth it to me.

Plus, I've always had a thing about dealer frames. I refuse to be a free billboard for a dealer, even if I don't hate the dealer. If they offered me free stuff to wear their frame I'd consider it, but dealers don't think like that. I'm very mercenary that way!
