Hello all! Been wanting to join your world for awhile, but circumstances and kids in college prevented that until now. Had a 2004 then 2012 Suzuki Vstrom 1000, and that got me by for some years. Got the last kiddo through college, and got the go ahead from my budgetary conscious better half to look around for the right deal, and scored a great buy on a 2015 ES. Have only gotten to ride for about 30 miles the other day before the snow has returned, but I can tell it will be fun getting to know each other better this summer. Planning on a trip from Souhern Oregon (home) to Boone,NC this fall with my wife to visit our daughter, so have been reading many of your posts on here for helpful advice. You guys look like you will be just as much help as the Vstrom community, which is lots! Looking forward to getting to know you. My new baby came with quite a few farkles, including a full set of Yamaha luggage. I had a set of Givi Outbacks already, which I personally like better, so they went on and the stock stuff will be put up for sale. I’ll be listing them at some point here, but if somebody wants to jump the gun and PM me an offer I’m wide open. Thanks everyone for your helpful posts, and I’m happy to be joining your group!

::004:: I've owned/ridden several makes and models of bikes. My Tenere is my favorite bike EVER. But, there is a learning curve on shifting & braking due to the high compression and light (unladen) rear end. ::001::

I had to play with sprocket sizes on the Vstrom to get the gearing right, and had to do way more shifting to keep it in the power band. That doesn't seem to be a problem with the ST. Mine has the Yoshimura muffler, aftermarket headers, and has been ECU flashed, so it has a few extra ponies, but man it seems to have a lot more grunt than the Suzuki at all RPMs! Will be a lot nicer loaded with passenger and luggage!

Welcome...many of us came from the big Vee. I loved my 2006 and put 48,000 miles on it before switching to the Tenere. Always will appreciate that bike, but never looked back. Tenere is head and shoulders above the DL1000.

I think there's a lot of V-Strom riders who made the switch, and you can count me among them (though I rode a DL650). I have zero bad things to say about the V-Strom, and I really liked that bike a lot; the new 2018 650's are a great looking bike. In that perfect world of unlimited money and unlimited room, a V-Strom would still be sitting in my garage. But, if I had to pick one, then it's the Super Tenere hands down. Like I've told people before, the S10 has everything I loved about the V-Strom, only more of it and better made.

Welcome from another DL1000 convert, I too loved my Strom, it took a few farkles to get it how I liked it (clutch mod, fork brace etc)and there was nothing wrong with it but I love my S10. Enjoy yours as soon as the snow has gone!

Welcome aboard. Still have the son's 2003 DL1000 in the garage.
We've got a number of owners in the Northwest so watch for get togethers, or just post up for one.
