Excellent ride with good company and meet a few new friends...!
I had a bimble up through Ottery from my place and got to Lyme Regis in time for a coffee in the sunshine... Had a chat with a older couple who were admiring the bike parked up and we chatted about old Triumphs and how the Japanese cornered the market in the 80/90's..!!
Met Mark and decided to use a combination of my tried and tested route with his local knowledge and adaptions.... A good thrash to the airport where indeed a few airborne moments were had over the bridges..(I'll put my camera on next time).. Lots of gravel washed onto the roads from fields but no major dramas..
I noticed my bike sliding around more than Marks especially crossing the slimy bit in the middle of the lane.. Also very little grip on the gnarly stuff.. Close inspection showed the rear down to the wear marks..!! New tyres to be ordered..
Met PooleXTZ and his Mrs PooleXTZ (Tiger 800XC) at the airport for a very good lunch and a good chin wag... (We were there till 3pm!!) Them We took some pics and parted company.. Mark showed me a gravel byway leading up and from a carpark which looked interesting....
We posed for the cameras going down Zig Zag hill, a couple of special Porches were driving up and it looked like a cameraman was doing a shoot for a magazine....
Came across my favourite type of road .... A flooded one.... !! Great fun...
Mark warned me about Stourton woods... But it wasn't as bad as the picture in my head!!! Good fun.. Slippery but good fun...
The light was fading to the shortest route home via Taunton for me.. We said our goodbyes around the Ilmister area and I headed towards Taunton... Yes I got dumped on on the M5 all the way home... Standing water and a few vehicles aqua planing on the M5 but thanks to Mr Rukka and Mr Sidi we got home safe and dry....
The next one will be Somerset and Devon taking in Exmoor, with some gnarly lanes and i'll find some bridges!! ;D
A Great Day..
