My DL650 is at 58k miles and showing the abuse. So, the race is on.
The T800 and the 800GS took the hole shot. The GS started falling back as the new T12 slowly worked it's way to the front running neck and neck with the T800. But wait, here comes the S10 blowing past the GS and taking the T800 to challenge the T12.
Reading that the ABS can be easily defeated gives the S10 a comfortable lead over the rest of the pack.

Everyone says how great the ABS is but I don't own a car and in winter I often have to commute in snow and ice. I can't afford to drop $13K on something that might or might not be workable, and I can't call off every time we get a little snow or ice. So the ABS thing is a big issue for me.

Welcome on, BadkarmaPa. I won't ride in snow and ice. Mainly because it's so cold I'd freeze my little toasties off. Can't help you there, but it good in the mud. Good luck. Getter done. ::004:: R. ::022::

Were you the guy we met in Ohio? Blue DL with the tiger mouth?
If so, welcome aboard and hope you got that ride on the Tenere you were looking for.

The ABS is the best I've found on a bike and does better than I can on ice and dirt.

These are from Yellowstone a few weeks ago. When coming in the east gate, the park ranger said there were reports of snow or ice or slush on the road ahead. We found all 3.

Yepper that was me.
I found your ride report too
I didn't even get a look at it. It would appear they want you to bid for it on e-bay and the winner gets to order one at the bid price. Good excuse for a ride though. I toured the back road storm damage on the way home. Hope you 2 dodged that stuff.

I like to lock the rear wheel to see if what looks like a wet road is actually ice, and to test to see just how much friction I have. I have also been in situations where skidding the rear wheel and slowly letting the bike slide down from the crown of the road to the edge of the pavement was the ONLY way to get stopped on a down hill. I really want traction control and ABS. But knowing I can have an off switch just gives me a little piece of mind.
This is one of my more interesting commutes. The big blizzard of 2010. The KLR has since been replace by the Scrambler
