I'm looking to purchase a SW Motech / Bags Connection EVO tank ring lock tankbag. I like the rigidity of these bags and the mounting method that minimizes scratches in the painted surface of the tank.

I'm considering three different bags:
- The Daypack
- The Engage
- The City

I plan to use the bag for storage of smaller items such as my wallet, house keys, charging cables, etc. I'm also considering the idea of keeping my Nikon DSLR in there on longer rides when my side cases are full.

Do anyone have any reviews of the above mentioned bags? Any pictures of the bags mounted? I've witnessed the Daypack mounted in person and like how it sits and doesn't contact the tank, but fear it may be a bit on the small side.

I would appreciate pics of the other two bags mounted, specifically where they contact the tank to the rear of the bag.

Thanks in advance!

I have the City and use the electrified version of the lock ring.
Never had an issue. Holds everything I need including a water bottle.
The rear of the bag will rest on the tank so I used some clear 3M protective film in that area.

I've got the GS tankbag. Though it's not on your list, I've been very happy with the quality. I bought it when I ordered the S10, and used it on my ST1300 before the S10 arrived, so I've probably got over 50,000 miles on it.

I use the powered mounting ring. Once I adjusted the latch pin correctly it's always been reliable and easy to use for fuel fill-ups. It's the best mounting system I've ever had for a tankbag. And it's great to have 12V in the bag for recharging phones and things.

I did buy different nuts and bolts to attach the mounting ring to the bottom of the bag. The ones that came with it were very short and I couldn't get the threads started. Cost me a couple bucks at the local hardware store.

I would buy another SW-Motech tankbag. ::008::

I just received my evo gs electric bag, very happy. Size is great, not to big. Fills up the tank area, but fits nicely.

I have almost a full set now, started with the "GS" bag, then the Mrs wanted the tiny "City", this is handy on our Euro Jaunts for keeping toll dosh / credit card in and so small it easily fits in a corner of the top box when we stop, expanded it has more room than you might imagine.

Recently added the Day Pack which is great for carrying a few things about and probably all most people need for a day out - I will take this instead of my GS bag when touring for convenience like carrying toll money / camera / bottle of water etc. to save needing to open the top box so often (and again it can be locked in their when stopping for lunch etc.

If you are still looking for SW Motech bag i found one in Yamaha accessories but you have to look in FZ1 or FZ8 accessory list. It does not show as STen accessory. It's branded as Yamaha but made by SW Motech. It uses quick EVO lock. Fits perfect.
It's a little cheaper and has a map pocket on top.

I have the City and while it's smaller than the GS, I wouldn't call it 'tiny' by any stretch. I also bought the add on map case which works well and will hold two side by side AAA maps, or put another way, two panels wide of a map opened. The City bag holds stuff that I always keep on the bike and has room for more. It can be expanded if needed, which is a nice feature too. The rear does tend to lay on the tank bag, but a tank protector solves any issues with that.

I had the electric ring and they fail after a while, not having continuous power, which is especially noticeable if you're powering a GPS thru it. I hear the newer version is better, but after two replacements under warranty, they sent me the new style, un-powered and said that they were going to wait until the powered version proved more reliable before selling those. Note that you should NOT install the powered version direct to the battery as the instructions indicate, it has a dark current draw even when nothing is powered and will kill the battery rather quickly if the bike sits for a couple of days with the tank bag connected to the ring.

Day Pack ::008::

I have a Day Pack, GS and City with fitting rings on all our bikes.

GS is large, City is very small, the Day Pack is not all that much bigger footprint wise but holds twice as much as the City.

I once saw a City with the Yamaha Logo on it, but it was on a Euro web site. I like my City, like Eric said, it is not tiny, expanded it's about the same size as my old Yamaha Tenere bag.
