Tenere shock rebuild

Rebuilding the shock was pretty much like any other shock. It’s not hard after you have done it once. The hard thing was drilling the big-ass hole in the side of the shock for routing the hydraulic flex line to the remote reservoir.

I “eye-balled” the thing and have no doubt there are a bunch of forum members here that could do a way better job. If anyone wants to take on modding these things for forum members I would be happy to walk them through it. Suspension shops also occasionally mount remote reservoirs – have not looked into it.

Thanks for this Xfool, the rear shock is definitely under-sprung if you weigh anything close to 200 Lbs, I remember finding a fox "motorcycle rear spring calculator" on-line a while ago, there where two calculators, mountain bikes and motorcycles..... it took into account many parameters such as shock stroke & sag ::26:: ::022::

Straight Fitting

There is not much room around the shock mount. I had to use a 90 degree AN fitting to make the hydraulic line connection. That made installation harder. I tapped the shock to get three turns on the threads, installed the fitting and took a guess at which way the fitting would be pointing when tightened. Then tapped the shock threads a ¼ turn at a time to get to the point where the fitting was tight and pointed in the right direction.

In the end, I installed the thing with red loctite. That sealed the threads and locked the fitting in place. Don’t see a reason to ever take the fitting out.
