There's something about it that draws a positive, instead of a negative, from me.

But it's still just wrong.

It looks pretty good to me, but I've always been a fan of the boxer engine's looks. Almost any bike looks better with more of the engine exposed. That being said, this photochop has the engine sitting about a foot further aft than it should - to ride it, you'd have to use the cylinders as big, hot, high footpegs.

Why? Why would you want to have the heads exposed like that instead of safely cradled in the frame, maybe its just me but i dont get it. The greatest benefit i see is the lower cg but the S10 does not suffer from being top heavy so again i say Why?

When the boxer was first developed many years ago it offered some real advantages with respect to having the hot cylinder heads well-exposed for air cooling and had excellent primary engine balance that resulted in much lower engine vibration than competing parallel twins. With liquid cooling and balance shafts, these advantages are marginal to non-existent now, but the design has been refined to the fare-thee-well and performs exceptionally well, even if they cylinders seem like they're in an awkward position. It reminds me of the 911 which also has some engine design/placement issues that should be problematic, but aren't really.

Boxer or parallel twin, it really boils down to which you like the feel of best. The longitudinal vs. transverse crank layout also plays a big role in how each bike handles and the boxer is well-suited to the telelever front suspension which also has pros and cons. Lots of interesting choices and tradeoffs.

I can't see the point of that....I had a GSA back in 2011 it was non W.C model and the engine was just awful, in fairness I haven't tried the later W.C variety which is supposedly smoother and more powerful

The GS engine offers an increase in power over the smoother parallel twin S10 but TBH I have enough power in my S10 as it is :)

Quick, run. Keep that up and you'll be stopping at Starbucks for coffee, paying high prices for oil changes, and wearing color matched riding gear. ::025::

I was thinking the owner replaced the parallel twin with a proper motor after the CCT failed and took out the original motor....

Well, I to thought I'd take advantage... it was soooooo easy! ::016::
