Super Tenere ES rear shock removal

I'm looking to replace the rear shock on my 2016 Super Tenere ES (Electronic Suspension) for a aftermarket one (Touratech) since the original one is very expensive (4000$CDN for the ES version).
I wonder if somebody know how I can ''hide'' the missing ES rear shock to the computer so I don't get a error light and can still use my front ES suspension.
Is there any "jumper" or "resistance" I could put in the rear shock plug to cheat the computer into thinking the rear shock is still in place ?

I’m pretty well satisfied with ES, if it ever does go bad I will most likely attempt to have it rebuilt.
Please keep us updated on how things go with yours.

The ES rear shock is (technically) not rebuildable.
I can find somebody to do it, but there is no warranty it's gonna work.
Not sure what your definition of rebuild is but I had my rebuild with new oil and seals
I'm sure they would revalve it if I would like.

This guy is the best in Ontario Canada for suspension work

FJR guys have found a US shop that will rebuild ES shocks and fit a heavier spring. Reasonable cost and initial reports have been good.

Norwest Suspension rebuilt my rear shock with new valves, spring, etc. I realize the ES shock isn't exactly the same, but I imagine the hydraulic portions are. I'd call them and at least get an opinion and a price for a rebuild before I went to the trouble (and expense) of a Touratech shock plus the unceertain nature of trying to fool the ECU into thinking the OEM shock was still there.

I replaced both the front and rear ES shocks when setting up for sidecar duty [ for sale in Australia if anyone is interested].

Other than a suspension fault light on the dashboard, the ECU doesn't seem bothered.

Aftermarket shock set up for you is way better than the stock ES.... Im not sure about the 'jumper' for the computer but let me check, I know someone who might know....

If you're considering the Touratech shock, I would suggest poking around and learning about the top 2-3-4 shocks in that catagory. There are some Pro's & Cons out there between the manufacturers.... They are all very good, just "check"..... I would also suggest if you go this direction, is to make sure its actually set up for YOU, and not just an off the shelf shock.... Most of these manufactures will sell an "off the shelf" shock for less money... Many customers dont know the difference... If you don't know, think of it like this, "off the shelf shock could be set up for someone 150Lbs or 450LBS.... someone with no heavy gear, the next guy with tons of gear"........... Doesn't mean it's not great hardware..... but it needs to be set up for YOU and how you ride your bike................... just my opinion..... This custom set up typically will cost more because of the spring, oil, nitrogen and just "labor / knowhow"... Someone will have to touch it...... But certainly worth it in the long run........

Rear shock removal on a Gen 1 2012. Everything was going easy until the last bolt ! why didnt the stupid designers or installers put the bolt in from the other direction !!!! Anybody ever push the bolt as far as it would go. then cut it off. Upon reinstall , get a new bolt and insert the logical direction? Saves having to remove any of the exhaust !!! Anybody done this ????

You tube is your friend !!! Got the shock out through the top rather than from the bottom. Still, yamaha should have installed the bolt from the other direction !
