Has anyone taken they bike on Saline Valley road. Basically goes from Lone Pine, CA to Big Pine, CA. I've done this in my Jeep. 100 miles of washboard with a couple options toward Death Valley and other spots. Rattles your teeth. Looking for information (current) about the road. Put some 50/50 tires on the bike and would like to try the ride before the weather really heats up. Thanks.

I have never been on Saline Valley Road but it looks interesting. I use Google Maps and Street View to research roads I am interested in. Using Street View, Saline Valley Road does view the road but it does have many pictures of the road and the areas around it. Street View is also good for checking for gates. Hope this helps.

We've got a couple riders from over there. CREnorth is the only one I can pull out of my memory just now.

Wow perfect timing Lewis, I just got home from a ride over that way. The Saline valley road has been closed becouse of a storm for about 3 month's (at least from the Big Pine side). It was just opened, this last weekend I think. Today's ride was to go out Death Valley Road past Crankshaft Jct. and explore the north of the park. As I came up on the road to Saline Valley I thought I would go see were the damaged area was and if it was still all washboard. Within about 1000 foot I had my answer, Bad washboard, so after about 3 miles I turned back and continued with my planed route.

I know that's no answer to your question but that's all I can add. That area is so cool im sure you will have fun if you decide to go. I know the bike can handle it.

Thanks for the replies. I'd like to get out there since I have a bit of of the 411 on the road. I've done some Jeep'n around out there and been all around Death Valley, as well as Lippincot Road on four wheels.

After my latest foray into Johnson Valley (dirt roads and whoops near Giant Rock) and Anza Borrego (a quick trip to Font's Point), I know that 800+ pounds of bike, gear and rider is a bit sketchy in the sand. Have Heidenau K60's f/r and didn't air them down enough. Although, I am sure a true front knobby would be best for anything dirt.

Thanks again. Hopefully I can get out there and try it out soon.
