Hello there!

I'm looking at a 2015 ES in red with 5000 miles and a 2022 ES in black with 2000 miles, both very nice condition. I already have most of the farkles, so not too concerned about that.

I believe I've done the research and know that there isn't really a difference mechanically between the bikes. The 2015 is $2000 cheaper, but luckily can afford either. Color doesn't necessarily bother me.

Is it stupid to consider the 2015 over the 2022?

I have a '17 Cobalt Blue. Beautiful in the sun. The '15 is similar in that it is a pearl paint. I haven't checked for sure, but is the black on the '22 flat/matte? You are correct in that both bikes are almost identical. There's been suggestions that the fueling was slightly improved in '17, but who knows. All things being equal, "I" would go with the '15 due to it looking better to me.

The black is a matte finish. The red, at least in pictures, does appear to be more pearl finish and a bit shiny. Thanks for the response!

The maroon is beautiful in person. But, you can't go wrong with either one of them. So, pick the one that you like the looks of more than the other since farkles don't play a part.

Go for what looks good to you. You're the one who has to get on it, be seen on it. $2000 won't mean diddly squat in 2 yrs time... but walking out to the garage and liking what you see will mean something in 2 yrs and more!

Go with your gut on this purchase. They are the exact same bike, just different colors. I have the 2015 in red and like it.
That actually looks pretty nice! How do you like the T-Rex crash bars and highway pegs? They don't impact the fog light (s) under the headlights? Any light vibration from the ones mounted on the crash bars?

No light vibrations at all. Trex setup is solid. I also have the skid plate just not installed currently. The highway pegs work well and have tons of adjustability.

2022 ES all the way for the win. My 2021 ES runs better, is a little smoother, and gets better fuel mileage than my previously owned 2015.

For the price difference I'd take the 2022 and never look back. It's basically brand new while the 2015 one has mostly been parked somewhere for 8 years. Even if mileage is low, time - specially when things are just stashed aside - deteriorates everything. Just my 02 cents :)
