Hey folks,
I am working on a little project with my students. We are going to be building our own chassis and putting together a "moto3" jobber to compete in CCS, WERA, and AHRMA. A little bit of our plan:
TZ250P body
yz250F engine
RS125-Marchesini Wheels
Aprilia RS125 front suspension, triples
Aluminum monocoque rear subframe
Direct mount rear shock (supermono, Honda RS125, etc style mounting)
KOSO Gauge
All other components that are not a manufactured item, we will create. Any item that is readily available we will purchase.

So, with that... we are accepting donations O:) Well, to be serious, if you have a lock on any of the items above or have any items that you would like to donate, let me know. Right now we are trying to source the suspension out of the UK. If you would be willing to play middle man to make sure we don't get screwed and that the items get shipped here appropriately (cost and packaging), it would be greatly appreciated. We should have this done by June.

sounds like a great project! How do I get a spot in your class?

oh and also... look out for honda bodywork as well - RS125's and RS250's were relatively plentiful not too long ago, their bodywork might suit?

You didn't mention a frame - what are you thinking for that?

We are using Airtech Streamlining for the TZ body work, and we get a deal.
As for the frame, we are building our own as we previously did like on this one we built:

as for getting into my class, I wish I could teach this type of stuff to adults. It would be very fun.

Hey all,
I was able to secure the front suspension and the wheels from the Aprilia RS125. Now I need to get it here to the states. Anyone have a way to help out?

So, there have been some developments and changes. First, we cannot sell a homemade moto3 bike for more than what we have in to it. So we have been spending time looking for cheap motor options. Enter in my good friend, and motorcycle enthusiast Wes Orloff of WFO Racing. He is donating a KTM LC4 with all needed components. Now, this means a shift in gears, and a predetermined rider, WFO. I have to talk it out with the students, but our best interest for a top sale bike is to do a larger sized bike (somewhere south of the original sv650 in size) and a possible Supermono knockoff. The students will have to be in to this build, and I imagine that they will, but now we have some challenges of finding an appropriate wheel for a 150/160 rear tire. Anyone have ideas? i would rather not do spokes and tubes.
