I was also using the Airhawk...though I put mine under an Alaskan sheepskin...it worked fine for 500+ mile days...since I've gotten the Corbin, I've retired the airhawk (anyone want to buy it?)

The seat takes some breaking in...and it is in leather....definitely more miles than stock seat.

Search the index...there's a lengthy dialog on using the Corbin

To each his own.

I do not find the Corbin ugly, in fact, I think it compliments the look of the bike quite well...and have had past Corbins that felt like thrones....the ST is a bit harder.

On sheeps, I haven't yet ridden with it through temps above 85 so can't speak to performance in super hot temps....I'll let you know mid-July after riding 4k across Nebraska/Wy/CO/Kansas.

I think there's a remarkable difference between the Corbin seat and stock. Each butt is different, but mine was made for my height and weight, it puts me maybe an inch higher than the stock setup did, and comfort for my 6' 6" 280lb body is noticeably better, and this was the first ride. I really can wait to see how it feels as it breaks in.

I just got it yesterday. I think it looks better than stock too. Added bonus is no more "gripper" to deal with!

Got my[ spenser mod ]seat back last night put 250 miles on this morning and I believe it solved what problems I had with the stock seat. Definitly feels firmer with more support.

Sounds like the Spencer mod is working well for you. Spencer must be getting a lot of business doing S10 seats these days. I'll probably do mine when I feel like giving up riding the bike for a few weeks....

I've only read a few pages of this thread but on another forum someone mentioned using this relatively low cost pad and says it works great for him so maybe it would work for some Tenere riders that have seat issues. Size medium is the one recommended for the Tenere.

Holy Thread Revival! :D Prior to your post, the last post was 2012, nearly 5 years ago. This thread was started when the Super Ten first came into the US.

Alaska Leather makes a fine product. That said, as you can see from earlier posts, it's been known and discussed greatly.

People will often spend a lot of money trying different inexpensive solutions instead of biting the bullet and spending the more serious cash for a custom seat. Custom seats very nearly always are more comfortable for longer distances and longer days in the saddle. If you travel on the bike and find yourself riding all day, be that 8 to 12 hours or far more, just save yourself the time and cost and start with a custom seat. Russell Cycle Products, BMS (Rocky Mayer), Laam, etc.

I have a Russell Day Long seat on my Super Ten. I had one on my FJR before that. But I ride longer days and travel on the bike more than just short day rides, so that's what works for me. I'm 240/5'11" and tall torso w/30" inseam. Down from 295 a few years back. Up from 225 a couple months back and heading back down again.

Any idea why there is no link for seats ? Or maybe there is but i just haven't found it ? Motorcycle seats usually seems to b a pretty popular topic.

I don't believe there is a sticky for seats, but there have been many threads on seat options. A search for "seat options" found this thread from 2015
http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=15909.msg245941#msg245941

Here is one on Bill Mayer Saddles http://www.yamahasupertenere.com/index.php?topic=15804.msg244716#msg244716

Do searches on Chris Laam, Russell Cycle Products or Russell Day Long, Corbin, etc. and you'll find many more threads.

Seats are very personal. Most of the Long Distance crowd gravitate to Russell, Laam, Bill Mayer Saddles (BMS) and to a lesser degree a few others. These are true custom seats made for specific riders, not off the shelf seats that may or may not be better than the oem seat, but are certainly different.

For riders just wanting more comfort for 300-500 mile days, a full on custom seat isn't always needed. But few regret a good custom seat.

The thing I have against aftermarket seats is as far as I know none use water resistant vinyl. They all soak water in and rot and crack and soon all the exterior vinyl, nice as it may have been and comfortable turns to a disaster. So every motorcycle comes from the factory with a water resistant seat to last for years, aftermarket lasts for a while. I guess I prefer years to "a while" as I keep my motorcycles for many years.

Russell offers sunbrella, which is waterproof.I have that for 3 years seen plenty of rain, looks like new going on 44k with this seat. Also the less stiching the better for water.

I rode the stock seat on my 2016 ES the first day that I had it, couldn't stand the non-slip material and most of all, the material combined with the downward slant of the seat was downright unbearable! Everything
wanted to go forward except my pants - will leave that to your imagination.
Came home that evening and ordered Sargent (rider and passenger), HUGE difference and worth the cost to me. I still have the originals, and may put the passenger one back on to help keep a bag/items in place
when I go on long rides, since it will keep stuff from sliding as much..
