Looking for a stock take off muffler. Cheap is good I'll be chopping removing some guts.
Willing to trade or outright $$.
Have like new Yamaha S10 tall wind screen to trade.

I would say that there are no tricks. Cut at the weld, pull the guts, reweld. One of the things that was done waaaayyyyyyy back when on race bikes that were running the "stock" class. DAMHIK. ::024:: ::024::

I'm curious... what is your goal in doing this? If your only goal is to make the stock can louder, then you are on the right track. However, you should be aware that since the catalytic converter is in the headers, taking out the internals of the muffler will do next to nothing for performance. Just an FYI

Sooo I would guess that your summery of a slip-on would be the same?

I've tried slip-on's with past bikes and have really never had any luck with durabilty.
I think I can modify the stocker and not ever have to worry about the muffler blowing out, falling off or what have ya a thousand miles from home.
nor will i have to worry about the park ranger giving Me a ticket for not having a approved muffler.

yes I would. But you won't see the slip on manufacturers admitting this. This is why when you see dyno charts for slip-ons, they are usually paired with a set of cat-free headers as a full system.

Similarly... if for some reason someone replaced the headers with the cat-free arrow headers, but kept the stock muffler in place, you would be doing little for power.
