Startup unusual noise

Yesterday I started my 2013 S10 after a period of 2 weeks in the garage and a very unusual thing happened. As soon as I pressed the ignition switch, there was no cranking at all (as if the kill switch was off) and there was a noise (very audible) similar to what you hear when blowing a fuse on a home appliance - a bang with a very short duration. I immediately released the ignition switch and retried after a second. No unusual noise and fired up first time. Everything in working order. No errors except the ABS light which should go off after travelling at around 10kph (did not take out the bike as it was raining, so couldn't check this). Head lights, indicators, break lights etc working. Charging is good at an average of 14v.

Switched off the bike and started it again after around an hour. No issues at all and no noise as in the first episode.

Any similar experience on this? I think it's a non-issue, but I would like to hear from you guys, especially if you think it could be an issue.

Thanks.

ya what Old Rider said.
sounds like your started clicked for a bit, battery made contact on the + or - terminal, arc'd across (loud bang?) and started.

Tried the battery terminals and they're tightly bolted. Started the bike again yesterday and no issues at all (no bang unlike the first episode in the previous day). I am now thinking it could have been the starter relay that made the noise. Perhaps it's failing slowly. Anyone had problems with the starter relay? Thanks to those who offered their valid comments.

What with some of the odd timing chain noises some of us have had... I don't like out-of-the-blue noises. :(

It's not a timing chain noise. It lasted for only a fraction of a second, and sounded exactly like a high-power fuse blowing. But nothing of the sort has blown out. All is working well. Today I started the bike again and no issues at all. As Don said, I don't like out-of-the-blue noises and wish I could find what caused this noise.
