I've had my Sidi Adventure boots for about 3 years now, and they are squeeking more now when I walk even more than they used to

Has anyone else experienced this with these or a similar boot ? and is there a cure ?....because its becoming very annoying

Some owners have reported good success by using silicone spray lubricant. Open up the boot's flaps and spray everywhere you can under things and at the hinge, close things up, do it again.

Warning to not get any on the soles has been stated, it causes them to be very slippery.

Good luck. My wife can never sneak up on me in her Sidi boots. My Gaerne G-Midlands don't squeak and are just as waterproof and comfortable.

Hi Eric, and thanks for the tip ::008::, I did try some silicone lubricant on the clips, joints and hinges etc, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference, I'll give it another go to see if it helps

Alternatively, I reckon I'll just have to tip toe around or continue announcing my arrival with a squeek :D

I had a pair and sold them as the squeak did my noggin in ! I went back to a pair of Forma Adventures which are not as protective (or waterproof) but are like slippers and whisper quiet...

I'm at the point of selling mine too Bryan, as they really are beginning to p*ss me off, although further research has suggested that Mink Oil is a good cure....so I'll give that a go and if it doesn't work then the Sidi's will be taking a hike without me :D

I tried a few drops of thick silicone on mine, it worked for about 5 minuets and then it was back to 'normal'. Littledave has the Sidi Canyon's and they don't squeak by all accounts.

I've now applied a good coat of Mink OIl, so let's see if there is any improvement.

Sidi Canyons look like a good alternative I've also looked at Alpinestar Toucan which seem good but pricey :)

Funny you should ask Bry, as the answer is that the squeek is 50% cured....which sounds great ...except, the left boot no longer squeeks but the right one still does :D

I've applied another dollop of Mink Oil and will have to see how it goes.

I was due to ride out to Whitby area today but Have decided that I'll be spending time at home with Gill who is enjoying a well earned holiday at the moment,.

I'll update on the 'advanced arrival warning boot' soon ::008:: :D

How's you ?, I hope that your knee is improving now

It's still swollen up like a bread pudding ! I think it is slooowly getting better but it could be going faster... I think the strong anti-inflamatories are helping a lot however.

It's a sad state of affairs when 'Homes under the hammer' is the highlight of your day... At least the Moto GP highlights are on tonight ::008::

I thought that oil was bad to use on the plastics? Just as an add-on I have Crossfire 2's and they squeak as well, despite silicone drops, silicone spray, and graphite powder. The silicone seems to be good until you get dust in there, and when you pretty much only wear them off-road... Well, I have to lube them every time I wear them.

I have read that too Ken, however the Mink Oil product is based on lanolin and silicone, after application it does polish to a nice shine which TBH I'm not bothered about. It waterproofs the leather and most importantly has now eliminated the squeek ::012::

Now I'm not sure if this is a permanent fix or not, I suspect that I will be re-applying, at least I can now wear my boots without my arrival being announced a couple of minutes in advance :D

Speaking from experience, I have found that mink oil is really bad for leather because it makes it crack much sooner than it would if untreated. I now use Obenauf's and find that it does a great job of protecting the leather and preventing cracks. I don't know if it would help with the squeeks, though. BTW, my old Sidi Tai Flex's squeeked like crazy and drove me nuts.

Cheers Craig, I rememger using a product similar to Obenaufs on an old leather biking jacket, it was very good ::008::

BTW my Sidi adventures are now whisper quiet
