So, I got a Spot Connect for Christmas but just got around to activating it. Been having trouble to say the least getting the Spot app to recognize the Spot Connect. Went back to the App store to read some reviews ( it has two stars) and theres more bad than good said about it. Other Iphone users having the same problem. The tech support that I talked to said he traded his Spot Connect for the basic Spot GPS because of the same issues. He told me how to maybe make it work though. All you have to do is delete the app, turn off your phone, take the batteries out of the Spot and wait for five minutes. Then reload the app, put the batteries back in the Spot and wait for the phone to boot up once you turn it on. THEN go to your settings on the phone and be sure to turn on the blue tooth at exactly the same time the Spot unit comes on. It worked, piece of cake. I just need to be sure to plan on getting set up about an hour before I go on any trips.
The Tech told me that the Droid phone dosent have this problem. Can anyone verify this? Thanks!

After the First connect, I have not had any Problems.

I was able to buy mine for $105.00.
If I had to replace it I don't know which one I would buy.

My Spot Connect worked fine with my iPhone 3GS last summer with frequent use. I upgraded to an iPhone 4 recently and now no joy despite loading/reloading etc. Also cannot get it to pair with Android version of Spot Connect App either.

UPDATE : After uninstalling Spot Connect, unpairing and reinstalling several times (on both iPhone 4 and Android), both are now working. The only difference between the two is that the Android will connect upon restarting by selecting "connect" from the Spot Connect app. On the iphone, I need to connect (not re-pair) from the bluetooth menu, then go into the Spot Connect app.

YMMV.
