I made an attempt to try and make this loop: http://goo.gl/maps/GEXfH this past Easter Sunday that I didn't have anything else planned until later in the day. Left Sandy, down to 224 through IncEstacada out to Pipeline Rd. Rode through the "town" of Three Lynx. I didn't get very far into the ride before I ran into this:

Seems like an issue I've encountered on a hose when watering my lawn, except a bit more massive in scale. From there I moved on down the road to Frog Lake where the water fills up the reservoir from the bottom:

It was fun watching people fishing in there, thinking of the fish being spun around in the pipes and ending up pushed in there from the bottom. After that I rode on to Lynn Falls and took some pictures and a nice peaceful break:

Finally made it to Timothy Lake and watched as water shot out of the outflow from the lake:

I decided to keep on truckin, and my plans to take a back way to Little Crater Lake were quickly detoured by various snow drifts, one in particular that ended up sucking my rear wheel into a ditch and not letting go. After fighting with the bike and ditch and some downed branches for a while, all that was left to do was lay the beast down on it's side and drag it across the snow to get it back on the road and turned around. By then I was sweating and getting hot and had enough of snow, so I turned around and tried taking the paved road down to Little Crater Lake. No dice, a massive snow drift was still blocking the road. Another turn around and a bit down the road and I'm out on Hwy 26 heading for Gov't Camp. My plan from here was to take the Trillium Lake Campground exit to connect with Still Creek Rd, however it was gated and another large snow drift blocking the road, so I kept going to Zig Zag. I turned onto the end of Still Creek Rd and rode it up a ways before I realized how late it was and that I was going to be late for dinner with the in-laws. I turned around again and headed for home.

All in all, a great day of riding without much traffic and a good workout muscling a behemoth of a bike out of a ditch, and a perfect way to spend an Easter Sunday morning.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing the ride. I miss the beauty of the PNW and the diversity of roads. (But not the rain and grey)
