Alegany and me headed for the high country right after work on a 60* last day in January evening…what a strange winter. We found locked access five miles in, gumbo mud and water, then finally a relatively dry mountain dirt road loop.

Great vid, dude. Man, that bare earth sure looks good to me right about now. Good choice of music, too. Can't go wrong with mandolini and dobri. Love it. Thanks. R ::008:: ::008::

Thanks Rem. There should be about 3-5 feet of snow pack up that high now. A most unusual season here. Keep waiting for the "Will ya look at that!?" blizzard, but not really missing it. WVs state bird will be the skeeter this spring...head net and bug dope for spring gobbler season.

Stringdusters mandolin player nailed it on that tune for certain.

Nice! You even caught the front-end of a sunset in there. I noticed you are sporting Tabasco's curb-breaching skid plate. I'll bet that's a conversation piece 8)

I prefer to find those gates open. One thing I have not done is explored any dirt roads in your area. I'll bet there are many wonderful things to find. Now that I'm considering passing the Tenere to my wife (and getting a second one) I'll have more opportunity to explore the off pavement world down there.

Thanks for the vid. I'm grounded due to weather this weekend and the bike is parked today. ::007:: Nice to ride along with you.

Fresh mounting on the skid plate...no one other than the local independent shop owner that helped install it Monday evening has seen it...but yep, I imagine it will be.

MeadWesVaCo owns a lot of land in my immediate local area so it is private property. Hard to predict when they have a given gate open and when they do not. But it makes for some good riding just to go and check even if you do find a locked one. That one is shut to protect the road itself this time of year I'm sure.

I spent Fri working out about 3/4ths of a killer mixed road surfaces route but had to give it up due to rushing the season at elevation. Includes 2 lane byways, one laners, one lane gravel, forest service and WesVaCo roads (always trickey b/c of gates) and scenery galore.

There are usually enough other road options to find an alternate route when a given gate is closed. No, not doing anything illegal, just working my way out on other roads with gates that are open.

I hope to run the new route with other Tenere's soon.

Nice video and music. Looking at it I thought it was Western N.C. We have a lot of old logging roads up there now made into forestry roads that seem to go on forever. Looks like you had a relaxing day! Thank You for sharing!!! ::012::

Like your videos and music. The Spring and Summer videos will be much greener and I am looking forward to them. Thanks.
