Hello, Ive been using this forum as a resource for a while now and I think im about to jump into a 2013. The OTD price is 11867.50. This includes a Freight and prep fee of 800 bucks. This feels like a reasonable price but with the 14's on the horizon Im wondering if I shouldnt wait. I test rode it today and within hitting second gear knew it was something I wanted to ride. Any help/advice will be appreciated, including what dealer accessories to stay away from. The parts guy said he could add other brands for me. I will update with pics and other details when/if I seal the deal on this bike.

That is a freakin' awesome deal unless for some reason you are hell-bent on electronic suspension. I would've signed right then-and-there!

The only factory accessory I would avoid is the skid-plate if you're planning hard off-road stuff. Panniers and such are very subjective - some people love the Yamaha bags, others want/need more capacity or luggage that is built like a tank. From what I understand the Yammy panniers are pretty good, but you may want to look for something more stout if your riding style dictates it...

I'd grab that bike up in a second at that price and never look back!

a simple hello, tHeMoLLuSK, there are many opinions on accessory equipment, but the main consideration is how are you going to ride.....
the OEM skidplate, however, is the bare minimum of an upgrade as without it the oil filter is deadly exposed.....

Welcome to the forum. As far as OEM accessories, I would echo the above avoid the factory skid plate if you plan to ride more than smooth gravel roads since it attaches to the sump. As far as the 13 vs the 14, you'll have to decide whats important to you. For many the cruise control is a major plus. Some like the electronic suspension. For me I prefer my aftermarket suspension set up and cruise is not important to me. The difference in prices can buy a lot of accessories but then again you are buying an older model. Really that is up to you to decide what factors are most important for you. Either way you will be getting a fantastic bike. HTH.

Thanks you all for the feedback. It is a fair point to say that the difference in cost is enough to use the savings to make the bike my own. With regard to cruise it isnt a huge issue for me as I currently use a throttlemeister and im sure the SupTen will have a comparable part. It is the instrument cluster that gets me. I test rode the FJR at the same time as the other and found it to have a superior cluster and would have liked to seen that on the ST. Even that though is small change because at the end of the day we generally like what we are used to and Im sure in a few weeks of riding the 2013 it will be like I've never rode anything else. Does anyone else have a "problem" with the older instrument layout?

I will likely go with the altrider bars and skid as these products seem to be used with good results. I also think I will add the wedellcase panniers as they seem to represent a good value for something that ultimately functions as a box. To speak to my usage, this bike will be my first forray into Adventure Riding so I expect it the see the ground several times. Usually it will ride on solid ground but I want to be ready to go anywhere when the chance comes about. Tomorrow may be the day, we shall see.

Thanks again
Mol~

No problems with the information provided on the cluster. It's got what you need - Trips A&B, Coolant Temp, OAT, Instant and Avg MPG, Etc...

The only nit I would pick is it would be nice to control the display from the handlebar. I pretty much just leave it on Avg MPG anyway so it's no biggie. I've never been a screen-flipper while riding...

So im in a price war with the local dealers right now fishing for the best deal. One dealer told me that their bike had a TWO year warranty. One of those years being a freebee from Yamaha. The same dealer listed an ad on CL with a price of 10527 and according to Oklahoma state law that is the price the dealer lawfully has to sell it at with all included fees. The other thing is the accessories that I am trying to add to it. I have the parts guys looking into what they can get for the bike that ISNT Yamaha. Thats the update, not as glorious a pictures of the new bike I realize but thanks for the interest. If anyone would like to see pics of an older BMW I can post those! ;)

So a guy named Joe bought the one they had advertised for 10587. As I was getting there he was leaving but I struck up a conversation with him and told him about the site. So we will see if he shows up with his new 2013 White model. My saga continues.

http://www.lakehillmotors.com Go to the site and email them and ask the out the door price for the 2013. They quoted me that OTD price last week. They will email you back within a day. I have bought from them before and they will give you a no BS out the door price. I was looking for an ES and almost bought the 2013. I put a deposit on a 2014 ES at Sehorn Yamaha in Shawnee. They were the only dealer in the state that make me a reasonable deal.

I called seahorn about the New ES and they told me that they we getting one and it had a deposit on it. Now I know who my competition was. I may call and ask them about the 13 tomorrow. What did you get them down to on it?

Maxey's made me a killer deal. I ended up with all the stuff i mentioned for less than anyone else's asking price. Those guys dealt really straight with me.
