Here’s some pictures my wife and I took while putting around on the Bighorn Mountains in Wyoming last weekend. We live at the base of the Bighorns and enjoy exploring around up there . Plus it’s a lot cooler up on the mountain , so it’s a great place to beat the heat.

Here's some other pictures of the Bighorn Mountains. ( I didn't take these )

Those are some great pics. Of all the places I've been over the past few years, I think that the Bighorn area is the most scenic. I can't wait to get back there again next summer. I was just talking with the girlfriend the other night mentioning that I would like to spend several days or a week in the area to see more of it now that I have done more research on the area.

This year, while my 3 riding partners left Tensleep for Shell Canyon Falls via Greybull, I went via Hyattville and up through the Red Gulch/ Alkali backwoods byway and met them at the falls. What an epic ride through some of the best scenery! Instead of being on the go constantly, I wish I had stopped to take more pics of the stunning scenery that everyone else in the group missed. I was running alone and I knew that there would be concerns if I was too late.

The road was great in places, rocky rough in others, and I was damn glad the conditions were dry. The only really bad spot was about 1/2 mile of pure sugar sand road - sort of sucked on that part with a fully loaded bike but I kept it up.

I would like to take the time to explore the area with the 2 large holes in the hillside. Wondering if they are natural?

Here's some more pictures from a few weekends ago. We always pack our pillows and hammocks along with a book so we can pull over and relax ( yeah right , I fell asleep in no time LOL ) . Love riding in the cool air of the mountains and then relaxing in my hammock before heading back home.

Stopped to look down the mountain. Altitude 9815 feet above sea level.

Some other high places on the Bighorn.
