Greetings earthlings. >:D

I am a motorcyclist.
Not biker. Even though I look guilty. 8)
I am a KLR rider.
A Vmax rider.
Jet ski & ATV rider too.
Lots of different bikes but the dual sport & ADV thing is choice the past few years rather then hooligan drag bike, sport bike, sport tour stuff. HD's were a phase of lesson once upon a time too.

Did I mention a passionate KLR & Vmax enthusist? ::001::

Well I've been thinking about selling my baby. My 4rth Vmax. My second gen 2009 200hp Max, I customized went to a new owner yesterday. I'm going to a dealer tomorrow with 95 percent intention of buying a faster' black Super 10!!!
Doing 14,782 OTD which I'm thinking is fair. Comments welcome. I'll check in the morning before I leave.

Looks like the givi crah bars are choice for access the side panels, so I'll get them 1st!
Would like advice on skid plates that don't have to be removed to change oil filter & also ones that won't damage engine in how they are mounted if taking a hard hit.
Next thing would be which boxes / panniers? I want black ones. Ones that lock. Ones that don't look too big or small. I'm hearing the OEM ones are ok if ya work the locks right. Also the Happy trail ones with strapping eyelets have caught my eye.
Here's a pic of my Max I just sold & My ol KLR...
Cheers!
Will post pics of the new S-10 2-morrow.

I'll also talk more about why I sold the Vmax later on... O0

Welcome Joe. Good choice. You might want to turn off the traction control ;)

By the looks of the blacked out KLR I would say you are from San Diego or SoCal but the trees and sand look like Florida.

Welcome, Joe. I am a former Vmax enthusiast myself, albeit the 1st gen, but I am enjoying the ST very much. Now on with the adventure...

Greetings and salutations. Bought mine two months ago, opposite coast with 9.9% sales tax, high license fees etc. for 14K OTD. It was a classy black one which adds a few hundred for great taste in color choices. I also went with the Givi engine guards. Very happy all the way around, I'm sure you will be too.

Welcome Joe.. I too just recently sold my VMAX... and will be buying a ST the first week or so of April once we are alongside for a decent amount of time ( NAVY).
I miss the old girl ( 1st Gen).. but looking forward to the ST...and can't wait. YOu strike as highly intelligent ( being a VMAX owner). Yet you are choosing Black???? Did you not know that Blue ones can actually bend time they are THAT POWERFUL ::012::
REgarless the Forum here is the best and an excellent source of information.
My best to you and happy for your choice ;D

Welcome to the SupaT club Joe ::008:: I have to say that rubberbaby is wrong, you made the right color choice - the black SupaT's are the event horizon of a black hole and are the only shapers of time - they are sooooo fast that the blue ones are retrograde... ::26:: ::26:: ::26:: ::017::

Yo, Joe-JOE, and welcome on. Congrats on the new bike. I'm not sure about the skid plates with access to the filter, but there is a nice selection of good quality panniers. Regarding black, Jesse and Micatech come to mind.
Anyway, keep us posted. Consider a trip to Whitehorse in July for the Rally. ::004:: . R. ::022::

Right on man! You will find all the info you need on this forum concerning panniers and all that. I bought my Givi crash bars through sporttour for 153 to the door but I believe someone else got em for 144 ish from ad-moto? I might be wrong but there is an entire thread on the Givi crash bars.. ::008:: ::004::

Brand new to the site. Just bought my own brand new ST on Saturday.. in black. Spend the weekend working on breaking it in, even though the weather just turned cool again. Like Joe, I too have a Y2K KLR, in that same ugly green. Love that bike, but I want something more suitable for longer trips.

Think I'll keep the KLR around for a while though, just for fun.

Anyway, bought the S10 with the Yamaha side panniers. They're ordered, should be in this week. I'll post some photoe (of both bikes), once I get them mounted.

Got it home safe & sound with around 70 miles on the clock from where I bought it.
Slabbed it for the most part & tried varying the gears & RPM's much as I could. Not babying it or hammering it. Just running it in between. Feels real smooth. Does pull nice. Very easy to do slow speed turns. Clutch & throttle feel great.
Not looking to push the tires on lean angle as in my mind it's narrow rubber. Does feel nice in a sweeper. Not that there's a lot in Florida. Really can't understand why Yamaha didn't put a gear indicator on this model bike???
Bike did seem to almost stall once taking off, like a glitch I think I read about. Temp sure climbs fast sitting at a light. Windshield was at high position & seemed to be a mix of being able to feel wind or not depending on if I crouched a little getting under the stream line. So far I'd say Yamaha did a good job on that. I'm 6'2"
It's even muddy with less then 100 miles on the odo. The third pic below shows a dried up puddle that kicked up a ton on mud on the new bike smell. Saw a little trail by the bridge & said, lets get the 1st off road wander out of the way, on the way home! ^-^
I know I'm gonna really ride this bike on 200-400 mile days. Seeing the mud already before I got it home bothers me & I'm tempted to clean it but I know the bike is gonna eventually be a pig, not a show piece.
I'm looking forward to some touring.
