Not trying to high jack the thread here. Sorry if I've stepped on toes.
Thanks Tim. That is what I am trying to decide. Do I want to go off road or not.
A good friend of mine has a 2012 RT and he commutes from Redondo Beach CA to Roseville a couple times a week. He also has a Gen2 KLR.
If you ride 2up the RT can be a bit tight (close). The 2012 RT has a ball bearing bearing (new to 2012) on the final drive shaft and they still have final drive issues. He had the bearing warranted with less than 20K miles. The dealer did not know the 2012 had the new bearing in the final drive.
He successfully upgraded the seat. Added driving lights and switch. Added another ACC Outlet. His Michelin tires are looking good at 12K miles. Heated grips, heated seat, cruise control, adjustable on the fly windshield, good brakes, all work good.
Lowered the foot pegs. Added his own GPS and SPOT.
The RT might be liquid cooled for 2014. More weight and more horse power.
