My dad was in sales his entire career. He loved his job, going out and socializing. I just don't have the fortitude to do that. Fizzer was a nice as he could be, but I get stressed out prior to the sale, "If this thing goes south, this fellow traveled all the way from Mass and it's gonna be my fault". Now, who can I blame?
I've sold many bikes over the years, and two recently. Always have a fear of getting a phone call blaming me for something. Years ago I sold an 80's Mustang 5.0 and the guy called and said it had a blown head gasket. After having him explain how his journey home went he admitted to over-heating the car and instead of pulling over he "thought" he could make it. I told him he did it to himself and he could pound sand. He kept texting until i told him I looped my attorney into the text thread. Ever since that event I've been nervous for a while after each sale no matter how upfront i've been on the car / moto.

In this case, if he posts later that he got popped for running the wrong plate on the bike I'll just chuckle.

Yup, whatever the outcome. . . . he can't say he wasn't warned. I try to plan for hurdles/problems. . . . Mr. Murphy is a frequent companion of mine.

I bought a car in Montana once while living in South Dakota. Just went to the SD county clerk with the vin of the vehicle I was buying and they gave me a paper plate to drive back from Montana. I cannot imagine driving with the wrong plate on the vehicle.

You guys are expanding my un-thought horrors! Hopefully his thoughts of me are similar to my thoughts of he, so like most undocumented transactions, it went well. I packaged up and sent those things belonging to the bike to his home. Going 2-up, no way could he haul it home.

Sorry to disappoint some of you guys, but except butt sore.. no issues. :D

I was traveling legally as per my research, as per my insurance company and my "Registry of Motor Vehicles' as well as OK Tag agency. Every state may have its own rules and everyone may have their own stories. My story was a happy one and I was not worried at all as I had all legal paper work.

@Conflubmw was a gentleman. It was a pleasure doing business with him. He took care of even small things like filling up the gas and checking the tire pressures and had all keys with the extras. And also so many other things. Thank you @Conflubmw!

Total of 1613 miles from @Conflubmw's house to mine. Stopped on the way to meet two of my old buddies. Had a great time. That's all matters. Sometimes we worry too much more than the actual problem.

But thanks all for the advice/suggestions.

I met only one cop who stopped to check if I needed help when I was stopped under a bridge for rain in NY state. Nice guy. I said I am good and was just took shelter from the rain. He wished me well and went his way. No other questions asked.

Congrats on the safe ride home. So, how was the ride? Better, or worse than you expected?

I didn't have any specific expectations and my experience was all that is mostly documented already. No surprises and I love the bike.

Some random initial thoughts... My comparison will be based on my two existing bikes... DR650 & FZ1

The bike is HEAVY:oops:.
Highway driving experience was great. It felt like a heavier/powerful DR650/thumper
I like the FZ1's inline 4 cylinder performance & smoothness better than this... but I will get used to it.
Didn't miss a beat the whole 1600 miles. No doubt am a Yammie fanboy.
Felt no big difference in the ES settings. Need to pay around more...
The cruise control was blinking and going bonkers every once in a while. Had to switch off then On and it worked fine after. Not sure if this is a universal problem.

Did I mention that the bike was heavy :D

I can see why you think she's heavy considering your previous rides.

If you ride mostly smooth roads, it is hard to feel a difference in the suspension. I recommend using 1-helmet= 200lbs, and the luggage= 50lns. As a starting point. After that, find some rough roads, and start making changes. There will be a difference.

I don't think anybody thought to ask, or tell you to check and see if the brake switch recall was done. The bad switch is likely the cause of the CC problems. Contact your favorite dealer, and they can do the recall.

Yes, it's a heavy beast. The twin is a definite switch from the FZ1 (I had a Gen1 Fizzy for 10 yrs) but once broken in, I've come to love it. Mostly because it does what I want (it's flashed), without constantly whispering "faster...c'mon, let's go faster!" And I've grown to love the handling as well. You'll notice the ES setting changes on real shitty roads. As far as the blinking CC....was the front brake switch assembly recall done?
Good luck and enjoy!

@Sierra1 @VRODE

My 'heavy bike' comment was more when pushing it around or when stopped, While moving I have no issues at all. Still feel a bit intimidated to take it off- pavement for now. But eventually plan to...

I will try out the ES settings in different riding conditions. Doesn't bother me much for now.

I am not sure if the recall was done or the ECU flash... I have asked @Conflubmw. Bike seemed very smooth and quite powerful to me...

I have the gen1 FZ1 too... probably will go up for sale soon. I hope I don't miss her much... or Maybe I will keep it... FZ1-2003.jpeg

I still have my ol' FJ. Can't bring myself to get rid of her, but don't hardly ride her since the Tenere is my favorite bike ever. With your CC symptoms, I'll be surprised if the recall was done. No biggy. I'm one of the relatively few that prefer the non-flashed version, with the "twitchy throttle", and awesome engine braking. The flash changes the throttle response, but doesn't effect HP.

Had my 2001, 10 years ago. my oldest (who is obviously practicing his Superman pose) is now 11 but it was a great bike. I do wish I had that one back more often than not.

Sounds like Prior Planning Prevents Poor Performance to me...

I think I replied offline, but will for the benefit of the others. With only 8k on the bike, I was reading about flashing the CPU, but for me, what advantage? A riding companion with his FJR, loves speed. My thoughts of speed is how big of a splat can one make on a bridge abutment while doing hyper velocities? I generally travel where the LEOs ignore me. Some inmates spoke of the advantages that flashing had gotten them beyond their original requests. My only thought was better mileage. Me? I'd probably want better mileage from a Prius!
What constantly pleased me about the Tenere was the low end grunt. Hey, I haven't ridden many bikes, but taking off from a stop, the engine seemed 'to pull me out of the hole' and get going. Not necessary for me to rev the engine. Good on my up-hill driveway into the garage, waiting for the door to open.
Want to let Fizzer know I found another Tenere related box and will be posting it to him when the P.O. opens again after the national holiday. As well as I'm organized, no telling how long this will occur.

Fizzer showed up on Oklahoma on Saturday. While visiting the Yammie dealership here on the prior Thursday, the service manager looked up the Tenere's VIN and informed me of the brake switch recall. Me, "Would that affect the CC?" "Oh, yeah!" Printing out the 8 page document, really?, I included it in the Yammie's papers. He said that recall just came out. I don't mind recalls, as they are free, but an inconvenience. It is just when they say, "Don't ride for a month until fixed" that I get a little fussy.
