Anyone know where I can get some 2'' Tape, around 12 feet or so? I put black jesses on my black bike and i want to ring the bottom of the bags with solas to get a little night time visability. ::003::
Thanks.

Not so Visable pic , scary that the brightest thing in the pic is my license plate.

Hit your local NAPA or truck stop. That silver/red alternating tape they use on the back of trailers is BRIGHT.
I have a piece of it on my helmet in the back and constantly get comments about it from drivers when I stop for gas at night.
I also have some on the corners of the S10's bags. I added some yellow/black zebra tape too.

There are two styles of refelctive material out there. One which you only see the reflection if you are inline with the light source, and one that you can see the reflective properties from any direction of light source. Some of the sheet material at many local sign shops uses the "inline"type of material. The Truck/Trailer red/white material can be seen from any direction.
The type of refelctive material on an AeroSTich jacket can be seen from most angles, regardless of light source angle.

I had some of the tape that was dark in day light (black bags) and when hit with a light they turned WHITE. Some comments I heard was that it was too much white on the back and now I prefer RED tape from an Truck Stop.

I ordered a roll from ebay, I'm just looking to ring the bottom 2 inches of the bags, for some night time reflection. I'll post a pic when it shows up.

I'm getting some custom tuning fork black reflective stickers for the back of my Jesse's made. I went to the sticker guy yesterday and he did some mock ups, I think they are going to look great.

Pics when you get them please... Also maybe the guys name and contact info. Unless you plan on selling them.

Plug, This is what Tabasco Jaxon is selling. He can do refelctive, or carbon. Give him a shout.

Hmm, I've seen the Ride on adv ones, the ones I'm getting will be a bit different. This guy is a friend of mine locally and is doing some other stuff for me, and I happened to ride the bike over. These will be a bit more like the ones I had on the FJR bags, and are going to slightly wrap around giving a little side reflection, too.

I did mention he might be able to sell some to other people if he wanted, when I get them installed and get pics I'll make sure I have a price and his info handy if anyone else likes them.

Just an FYI. SOLAS approved tape is for Marine applications so it has to pass certain tests, with related costs for the testing. Regular 3M reflective tape or sheet is just as good without the extra cost. I bought black 3M sheet and used a stencil to make some skulls for my Harley. Bike was black so they blended right in until the light hit. At night you could see me from way back. I posted pics awhile back on ADVRIDER.

I don't think they make solas in black, and I didn't specify a brand. We did talk about his ability to get all those different brands and specifications like Solas, NFPA, and DOT. He said he can get anything, and even print colors over reflective white and it still reflects. He showed me examples, but I never payed attention whether or not they had a brand on them.

Just a data point about the different brands/types of reflective tape. I had some stickers made up for the FJR crowd a few years back and while working with the vendor on different designs, etc., I discovered that the non 3M brand of tape he was using for the black reflected in a brownish hue instead of the 3M's brilliant white. The lower cost stuff in silver was great, red about the same, but tinged pink, but the black just didn't have the same pop of the 3M in black.

I like the red/white trucker tape best for all out reflectiveness. It glows so bright that even a 1/2" strip shows up brilliantly at night from a long ways back. I have the black 3M on the FJR saddlebags and am pleased with that as well. All of the 3M reflective colors seem to be uniformly bright in their reflectivity.

I would suggest that anyone working on stickers get some samples of the material your guy/shop is going to use and see how they reflect for yourself before placing an order. You might be happy you checked first.

I saw the roll of stuff he is going to make mine out of, he even cut a strip and we put it on the bags to see how it matched. It reflected brilliant white, but was almost an exact match for the charcoal colored Jesse's on my bike when not reflecting. That stuff is a bit odd, it depends on the angle you are looking at how dark it looks. Part of the characteristics that makes it work.

Yes I looked it up. Good websites to be found.
I found this to because I had to know what SOLAS stood for. < Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) affecting many aspects of ship safety >
Here is a site for tape. I didn't look at any prices and I bet it is pricey :http://www.solastape.com/index.php?naam=products
