So you have a passion for motorcycles, what else?

I have had a large number of interests besides motorcycles. Too many interests in fact, and I bore easily.....

So...... my woodworking hobby came to sudden halt when I developed sensitivities to wood and wood dust.

Electronic interests come and go...... I am Amateur Radio operator with all privileges and back in the day before the internet, I built and operated a fully automated digital satellite communications system, but of course the internet came along and I promptly sold all my equipment before it became worthless. As of today, I am not active.... unless called out for an emergency when all the usual lines of communications fail.

I'll skip the photography era...... I had 35mm to 5" x 7" sheet film capability, a color dark room capable to 4" x 5" sheet film. Again, a fun hobby, but the digital camera, just like the internet, swooped in and took all the fun, never mind the thousands of dollars invested in gear, out of it.

Today, espresso is something I enjoy.... as well as having returned to motorcycles after 20+ years. My wife passed away last fall and as I have no children or relatives in North America, I figured I'd go back to riding a bike and drinking decent coffee! Besides, I've only got 220 km on my new Super Tenere and I've already dropped it..... so I'm drowning my sorrows in espresso!

Like many of us here, I have a lot of interests.

Backpacking is one I haven't done in a while, but I've hiked bits and pieces of the Pacific Crest Trail...probably about 150 miles of it. Done a lot of nights sleeping with just what I carried on my back.

I enjoy running. I have done several half marathons, marathons, 50k, 100k. I haven't finished the 100 mile event yet, but have entered a few.

I like cooking, got into making bread one late night when I couldn't sleep after watching a video on how to do it. I still make a loaf of bread occasionally but my wife doesn't eat it so that means it's all mine.

Most of all I like to just tinker on things. For some reason I am always getting contacted by people to give me projects. Word gets out that I like to do that sort of thing, so I have been given several free cars, pickups, motorcycles, lawnmowers, etc. I have become known in my neighborhood because I fix lawnmowers and give them away. Every once in a while I will sell one in order to buy parts to get other ones going so that I can give them away. It's my little contribution to the karma train or whatever you want to call it.

My favourite back packing country is New Zealand. I’ve been twice and I hope to get another trip in. I go solo as Mrs R won’t fly thAt far. There’s nothing in NZ that can poison you or bite you which is reassuring when your by yourself in the back country.

Reminds me of Bear Tooth Highway. The only place I've ever seen anything close to that.

CJ-8s are crazy valuable. There are worth some money. . . . big money. It looks "clean", and probably runs good, so, yeah. . . .
Yep. It runs great. Just had the block re-built and got it all back together. Only a couple of small rust bubbles. I put a Mercedes diesel in it for a while just for giggles but didn't like it. There's always something I can do to it. I've got a long list. It's been a lot of fun.

Enjoy a bit of underwater exploration... But only in sunny climes where the waters warm (Bollox to cold water diving!).
I was a diver in the Navy. You're absolutely correct. Most of the time I was in cold water; 3/8" wetsuit, or dry suit. Got lucky to be in St. Croix a couple of time. . . . warm water, and at least 365' visibility; heaven.

I was a commercial diver pulling urchins, did some survey mapping, etc. Got back into it for a while when my son was in Boy Scouts.
I still don't like cold water.
