I initially assumed the empty show rooms were because of covid interrupting the supply from Japan. But, my dealer says they can units. . . . they're just selling all of them. WTF? How/why do you buy a bike if you're not working, and can't go anywhere? And. . . . where are they riding? 'Cuz I'm not seeing them on the road. . . . and I ride every day.
Everyone can be a motorcycle owner.......not everyone is a motorcycle rider. Witness all the CL ads for motorcycles that are 5-10 years old with very few miles on them.

I remember when the very first VMax came out. Same kind of thing. VMaxes with less than 500 miles, "must sell", best offer, appeared quite often. It's one thing to want to have the baddest bike on the block. It's a whole 'nother thing when you shit yourself when the v-boost kicks in. A friend of mine wanted one. . . . had to have one. . . . wanted to buy it sight unseen. I went with him. I rode it. . . . and kept it under 6k rpm. He went to ride it, and I told him, "not over 6k". He was not an experienced rider. He came back, and told the guy he was going to think about it.

After we left, I asked him what was going on. "It's too big, and bulky." It suddenly hit me, he had gone over 6k. He never mentioned a VMax again.

Speaking of Vmaxes, I can't figure out why Yamaha would spend millions developing that 2nd Gen 1700 V4, and then only use it in the Vmax instead of also building a Goldwing killer touring bike as well. What a wasted opportunity.

You're right. I don't know how that adaptive cruise control will work, when all the bugs and butterflies stick to the sensor:)
Most of the adaptive CC systems in cars use radar sensors. Bugs are basically invisible to radar.

Yamaha has been there tried that with the Gen 1 VMax motor. Magazines liked the Vmax motivated Venture, but still loved the 'Wing. I think that's why the current Venture is styled like it is. . . . to avoid being compared to the 'Wing again. It's obviously aimed at HD; big honking air cooled V-twin, with belt drive. I just don't know why they would target HD. Unless it's actually aimed at Indian.

I believe that Yamaha is more than capable of building a bike that is at the very least, equal to the 'Wing. I just don't think they feel the "juice would be worth the squeeze." I also believe it's not their style. Look at the differences between the Tenere and the AT; similar, but definitely different in how they do the same job.

I have seen more S-10’s on the road in the last eight months then the last 6 years.

I have a relationship with Polaris through the American Sand Association. They are seeing record breaking sales this year, since outdoor activities are one of the few things "allowed" during the pandemic. RV sales are also off the charts, since its basically a way to recreate with social distancing.
I was at Rocky Mountain ATV in Utah in August and they had 4 Razors in stock and were around $25k and they said they were having a hard time keeping them in stock.

They already had a shaft driven 200 hp V4 power train. Should've been a fun and easy challenge to build a better uber tourer than the then-9 year old wing.

The very first Ford Taurus SHO, back in the late '80s, was powered by a Yamaha V6; 225hp.

Hi, Today I check with a Yamaha in my country, S10 is out of stock now.. and the model is discontinue.. (We only applied Euro 4 standard, and we took all stock from Japan, so if we out of stock.. is mean global stock is either empty or very low)
So what next...
Every year we have the threads of panic saying it is the end of the model and Yamaha is killing it. Same as the FJR, which is going on 20 years of the same talk.

As for now, I've been looking at trucks and vans and talking to a LOT of sales people. Repeated bottom line is that the factories stopped making vehicles for nearly two months, plus people had the time and money to buy what was out there already. Even after factories started to come back on line the supply chains were disrupted too. That meant there are few new vehicles and the prices of used ones have soared.

One picture is worth 1,000 words. ("Now" was a month or so back.)

My local dealer says they can get plenty of bikes. . . . but, they're selling everything that the get. So, the showroom is looking bare. Not as bare as Romney though.

I thought about this too, but this time is really empty.. not sure about USA's stock, but certain Japan, which S10 is made, and Asia is no more stock for re order and its discontinue, In case, Yam's US want to re order the model will be impossible. . Not for FJR, FJR still on going since Yamaha consider FJR 2018's model.. where S10 is 2015 model..

The salesman I bought my wife's Goldwing said the same thing to me earlier this year. . . He has been selling bikes for 15 years and this is the busiest he has ever seen it.
