...my take...

I think most motorbikers are fickle.

They look for the next big thing, try it out - put 10-20,000 miles on it in short order and then move to the next big thing.

Many many of these riders do this switch every 1-3 years.

I am pleased as punch with mine.

It fits - it's flawless - it's grunty - it's pretty - it can haul a lot of stuff - it can cruise - it can go in any weather - it's easy on gas/tires

I am interested about the new KTM & the new FJR.

Not interested enough to trade/sell my hawt sinister black Supa10 - just interested.

With my Supa10 I really don't need a 2nd bike.

I love my S10, the only issue I have is the buffeting. I am slowly working through it. If I can not come up with a solution I am happy with I will sell the bike. I really hope I can find a solution!
But when I do sell I won't list it as for sale because of a woeful windscreen and buffeting that leaves me with a sore neck for days!

I agree....

And Ill add to that a bit.... Of course these are NOT scientific facts, but things I have noticed over the years in the business...
I think 'some' owners like the excitement of the new bigger better machine. They like to talk with there friends and people around them about the new arrival. They look forward to it... When they get it they show it off (like everyone does:) and they like that attention. Then this owner really enjoys shopping for new parts for the new bike. They also like to strike up new forums and people excited about the same new "thing". Once they get all the parts on the bike, they ride the bike, they 'show it off', and after about a year, the "new" is gone... They are looking again for that excitement. And in the bike world there is another new "thing" on the block and they want to take the "special journey" again !!! If they got the cash or the time,,, more power to them.... That's whats so great about this hobby, so many people messing with the same machines... Its all good !!!! ::008::

Agree with Jaxon. I used to refer to them as Hot Rod Junkies. By he time they finished their Hot Rod they were ready for the next. Sometimes never driving them. At least the Motorcycle Junkies ride them until they get tired of the project. I have done a few auto projects until that grew old. Constantly spending money and they were in the garage most of the time.
My KLR was a fun project to get it to be traveling dependable. When I heard about the Yamaha Super Tenere and read about the Yamaha dependability. I was sold. Still am and always searching for comfort and confidence in travel. Hopefully I will be able to own and ride the improved 2018 (50 year anniversary of the DT-1) Yamaha Super Tenere.

Tim, it's a shame we didn't meet up. My ST is dialed in just about right. i hear what you're saying about speed junkies. one of my travelling partners was on a zx14r, excess at it best. Totally not the bike for him or for the roads, he admitted it two days into the trip. He is considering selling it and buying a concourse 14.
anyone need a barely used zx14r? 3000km ::013::

Hopefully next time. Explain to your friend that you can go anywhere a Concour 14 can go but a Super Tenere can go places a Concour 14 can't. If he doesn't want a Tenere invite him to spend $20K+ on a new 2013 BMW GS.
