Ran up to check snow levels on Mt. Hood, and get some miles on my TKC-80s.

About 3360 feet just pass the intersection at the top of Lolo Pass...

And 3320 feet about 1.5 miles from Trillium Lake on Still Creek Road...

Good day ridin'

What's with all this riding right by my house without stopping to pick me up? <grin>

I hear there is a storm coming that will leave snow in the passes Tues and Wed. That means it will be just that much longer before these roads are clear. We may have to head to SE Oregon guys. I wonder what parts of the OBCDR might be open this early. I'll have my Big Blocks soon and will be itchin for some dirt!

Joel - I think I hit zig zag about 12, then went up still creek first. Turned around at the snow, then back down and went out lolo pass to snow, turned around, then headed home.

Paul - I'll let you know when I have a bit more notice. This was sort of a whim, and I wasn't sure how predictable I'd be schedule wise.

Oh, I didn't get to Still Creek until about 1:30 or so. Getting turned around at snow is much more fun than getting stuck in snow and having to drag your bike over it get it out. Ask me how I know. ::010::

My ride I knew I wanted to do alone, take my time, take pictures, clear my head. Riding is my therapy, and very rarely do I get an opportunity to be on my own, doing my own thing and not having to worry about others.

More snow level checks today. 3600 feet south of Estacada on NF-45. A couple of inches of fresh stuff in a few places starting at 3600, and beyond my comfort level at 3800 feet. Tried to get to Williams lake, but it's at 4,000 or so. Not much longer.

It as actively snowing in a few places, enough to accumulate on the shield.

How are you liking them knobs, Kev? Way to commit! They seem right up your ally with all the dirt exploration you seem to do. ::012::

Great pictures, BTW, I know the road… (ran a cycling event up there, using the forest service side roads up to Lolo from ZigZag.)

I chickened out and bought another set of Tourance EXP's after our last round-up, when I discovered my rear tire was not only flat, but had cords showing through! Thank goodness it didn't blow-out on that ride. I almost talked my self into some heidenau k60's, but thought I'd regret giving up the grip on the tarmac. Perhaps once I can afford some crash bars and a burly skid plate, I'll try out some knobblies to go with them.

Jason, the TKC-80s are great off pavement. You give up a lot of traction reserve on pavement though. As you know, I'm pretty conservative, so they work for me. I found them surprisingly smooth at speed. I had K60s on my TR650 and on hat bike they introduced some front end stability starting at about 50 that I didn't care for, so I figured I try these on the TR650. I'm very interested to see how they wear. I'm a big fan of the Tourance EXP, my preferred 80/20 tire. If I got back to 80/20, the EXP will be my choice.
