Thanks for that Dogdaze. Those look like a couple of really good products. I, myself, never thought about the necessity of a brake light just for rolling off the throttle, but could see how it could benefit those that do. More importantly, that is a brilliant answer to the self canceling turn signal dilemma. I'm constantly telling half the idiots I ride with that they are doing themselves more harm than good by always remembering to turn on their turn signals, but never remembering to turn them off. LOL

To a degree, products like this come down to riding style. Most everyone is occasionally guilty of leaving a turn signal on longer than needed. However, every single person with 'self canceling' turn signals is guilty of doing that every time they turn. This product may be more responsive than others, but I'm not a fan of self canceling turn signals. Rider training and muscle memory do a better job, IMHO.

My wife's '16 BMW GSA has self canceling turn signals, as did her previous F650GS twin. With both bikes, her signals are on well past the turn and often past the next driveway or intersection. I see traffic reacting to her signals, then confused when she doesn't turn. More than a few times she has been cut off or almost cut off by people expecting her to turn an wanting to cross her path, then she doesn't turn and they slam on the brakes. (at least they saw her)

In the US, so many riders ride so little that they don't develop the muscle memory for this aspect of riding. I'm not sure this type of product is really helpful for that, or just a placebo.

I'm in the camp with EricV about self canceling indicators, but I do like the the idea of a throttle chop brake light...... That has merit.

That's why for just a couple bucks, I add LED's up higher in my view to let me know the signals are on.
95% better than the stock (lower, almost invisible) warning light.

I've done that to almost every bike I've owned.

I've got one of those smart turn system modules sitting on my bench but haven't gotten around to installing it yet. My '78 XS750E had self-cancelling signals but they were so much fun to watch that I never forgot about them! The system was pretty crude and worked on a simple time/distance algorithm. If you were stationary as like waiting for a light they would work in distance mode and shut of nicely just about the time you'd completed the turn. On the highway, signaling for a lane change they would flip into timer mode, which worked fine for a simple lane change. Two places the system kind of fell down is if you had to signal to enter a long turn lane, they would sometimes distance out before reaching the stop requiring reactivation. At speed, if you could not immediately move over but needed to signal your intentions a little longer for an opening or an upcoming ramp, they'd sometimes time out too soon. Either way though, they would never just stay on for miles and miles.

I too have one of the turn signal modules sitting on the bench. Finding a flat spot to orient the module correctly seems to be an issue, but I haven't tried real hard yet.

I just purchased one of the indicator cancelling units, will be interested to see how well it works.. If I like it, will probably fit a unit to each of my bikes.. get fed up with the wife constantly telling me I have left the indicators on!! That's what happens after 10 years of riding a goldwing that cancels them for you!!
