I see people using it on bikes all the time. I've also seen what it does to a bike after a few years.

The stuff is not safe on aluminum and many other finishes on bikes.

Read the FAQ's if you don't believe me.

No doubt you have to be careful with the stuff on aluminum. The key is to not let it dry -- keep spraying the Simple Green when it starts to dry -- while you're cleaning muck and grime off the part and as the FAQs say, rinse thoroughly. Here is an aluminum wheel I cleaned with Simple Green when I was restoring a '77 RD400. It had deeply ground-in dirt and chain lube on it. The spokes and most of the rim are a rough finish casting which makes cleaning that much harder. Used correctly it's good stuff.

Its like Franks Hot Sauce........ I put that **** on everything... :D

I do use it all the time... I've not run into any issues.. I do like the original green though.. The lemon and blue don't seem to be the exact same as the green...

DO NOT USE THE PURPLE CLEANER!!!!! Simple green is fine if it doesn't dry, that Purple Cleaner messes up those pretty gold fork tubes on bikes, don't ask how I know this.

I use Goo Gone on wheels with chain lube and heavy muck works wonderfully.

I destroyed every single coating on a XR1200 race bike. When I say every, I mean EVERY!

If you wanted to use a degreaser that is safe, well I should say I have had it on many coatings including paint without problems, use either original or foaming:

I would reserve the statement in case of the heavy duty gel, but the original (diesel fuel?) has never damaged anything I have used it on, either has the foam. The gel seams to etch aluminum a little, and just stay away from anything f&$^ing purple.

The military banned the original Simple Green due to corrosion issues. That's why they came out with the Aircraft formula a long time ago, which IS safe for aluminum, copper, etc.

Amen, Bruddah! Amen!

However, some fine, fine rubbing compound (I used some for polishing windscreens) and a little bit elbow grease will have those gold fork tubes looking like new again.

However, the rubbing compound doesn't do a damn thing for the ghost streaks that purple crap leaves on the black plastic side panels... don't ask me how I know that! ::010::

Wash the bike? Not sure what that phrase means. I probably won't keep it more than 5 or 6 years. Time enough for washing when I finish riding :)
Yea, I'm with this guy...

I use simple green a LOT!!!!.

I get super nasty at work, and run it in the washing machine with my oilfield cloths, use it in water to scrub my boots after being oil soaked on offshore oil rigs, clean the truck, clean nasty dirtbike parts etc. We go through a gallon of the concentrate every 4-5 months.

Use it right and never have any issues, but you can't just spray it and forget it.

I don't like Simple Green because I hate choking on the aerosol from the sprayer.

Instead I use a very fast two-phase approach. First I use a spray bottle of WD-40, which is safe for all surfaces, mainly on the underside of the bike to liquefy any greasy dirt and tar. A plastic kitchen drinking glass brush makes this easy.

Then the bike is easily cleaned using a bucket of warm water with a little car wash soap, the same brush, and a towel and a quick spray from the hose. Bugs come off trivially if wetted and left to soak for a minute before brushing.

Finally, peg springs and stand pivots get a quick spray with WD-40 to replace the water with a light lubricant.

I been using Simple Green for decades never had an issue...use to clean grease off my hands as well. Can't think if I ever let it dry on anything....can't think why you would. If you use it on pait it will strip any wax off so it s good idea to wax the paint when your done cleaning it....

I used Castrol Super Clean once on my old camper......took the paint off with the grime :-[

Like its been said use as directed....

I've been using S100 for over 20 years without any ill effects. I wouldn't even consider anything else on my bikes!

+1, I'm with you on this one, for the bike and the car. ::008::

A bit pricey but worth it none the less. I buy from the local H-D, about a gallon a year, gives me an excuse to visit the land of pirates and tattooed ladies! ::013::
