Does anyone know if having the same size panniers fitted to an asymmetrical mount would cause an unbalance to the bike? Bought this bike recently, which came with the luggage and only just noticed the slight offset. Normally there would be a slightly larger case on the right side of the bike to even it out

Wind is going to be the only issue. I have OE boxes and I get tons of bugs that let me see exactly what part of the boxes are hangin' out in the wind. :D Those are wider, so therefore have to out in the wind a little more.

I would believe that with the configuration you have... the balance/or imbalance will come from the weight you add to each bag…..As would be the case with any other side bag configuration. The higher or further out the added weight is... the easier it is to unbalance

I don't know, I could see where weight would have an effect if it was way out there. But it looks like only and inch, maybe two, further out. And weight would be easy to compensate for. But wind drag is going to remain a constant. How much it will influence the bike is debatable. I'm with Superraid, don't worry and just enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the quick replies! I'm probably looking too much into it, apart from it not looking quite right from the back, which does annoy me a bit, I could probably just load the right pannier slightly heavier if it was noticeable

Like I said (and Superraid) there's likely not going to be a weight issue. But "I" would load my heaviest items closest to the centerline. Even if they were exactly the same, I'd put my heavy items inboard, closest to the box mount.

Whenever I can, I will remember it...but watch the pic and remember that in the event of a fall while moving, do not put your foot down...that side box is designed to break your bones

I run tuoratech zega , load them and go , never notice the weight or if the weight difference is affecting the handling ... but I'm not loading them with bricks either.

Bought about 50 pounds worth of sockets and wrenches at an auction, put them all inside left saddlebag for the 30 mile ride home, yes it was very noticeable ! But that’s the only time I ever noticed any difference, I read all the time how important is to have the saddlebags equally loaded but normally I don’t think it makes much difference at least not for me.

Sounds like something I’d do…

That is one reason I am going to soft panniers soon. The other is that my big wonderful moose racing panniers are no longer waterproof after they get tweaked from a long trip on rough terrain.
Like said above ride it. You will unconsciously adjust you and the bike for conditions. As far as looks... I get it that it isn’t the same on both sides but many times due to the muffler they aren't. Besides, you can't see it while riding.
