Side Case Support Loop?

Can anyone tell me what the loop on left lower side case support is for?

I have thought the very same question, and have only surmised it is a helmet lock point, using a combination padlock... I haven't found any other place to conveniently secure my helmet.....

I've been meaning to raise this very question for the last 4 years of ownership .
Ps I find mine to be a PITA when squeezing between S10 and things in my Garage as it always catches on my keks.. Keep thinking I should cut it off.
